johnsnake71
Every time I want to enable a mod on or off, I have to wait 30 seconds for steam workshop to finish "downloading" the mods. And not everyone have the same internet so it may vary on the speed of your internet, but for people with slow internet should have the option to cancel or pause the downloading and get into enabling or disabling the mods. It's just getting irritating and tedious now because If I have a mod with another mod that isn't compatible it crashes, all mods a turn off now, I have to go back and wait another 30 secs..... Tayburro
I always stick to the downloads section on the forums but I think that its going to go extinct. simplex
I always stick to the downloads section on the forums but I think that its going to go extinct. The devs stated they'll keep it, since standalone mod support depends on that. But for modders the dual upkeep is sure a pain. Anyway, about the OP. Yes, I'd really like for the game to use a smarter method than "redownload everything". It could just do a delta transfer (i.e., transfer only what needs to be transfered). There are many libraries that could just be plugged into the game for that. Not the venerable rsync, since the game is not free software (obviously), but there are alternatives. tehMugwump
Though it may have some kinks to work out, I much prefer the Workshop setup. Fool proof installation for users and upkeep for modders is to just use the tool to re-upload the data package when you make a change. Much easier than re-zipping everything and uploading it manually to the forums. I agree with simplex, though. Re-downloading 15 mods each time you fire up steam DS is not a sane thing to do. Diverge
So you want them to do what, exactly? They can't compensate for everyone. johnsnake71
So you want them to do what, exactly? They can't compensate for everyone. What my op stated. To have the option to pause or cancel downloading to get right into enabling mods on or off. Because if you didn't know, when someone like me have 50 mods for Don't Starve some mods there are bound to be not compatible so the game crashes, all mods are turn off now, to enable them back on I am force to wait 30 seconds for the game to finish redownloading/updating the mods, when all I want to do there is just turn mods back or off. This isn't just to me, but to everyone else out there as I imagine allot of people dislike waiting.
