Basically a method of forcing rain, thunder, winter, summer, etc. to occur.

 

Using either a universal or purpose-specific shrine (with 4 inventory slots), you might place these items:

 

ONLY Rain         - x3 Beefalo Tear, ...

ONLY Thunder   - x3 Gold, ...

Winter                - x1 Ice Staff, x1 Blue Gem, x1 Snowbird, ...

Summer             - x1 Fire Staff, x1 Firefly, x1 Redbird, ...

Blood Moon       - x1 Frog Legs, x1 Purple Gem, x1 Evil Flower, ...

 

In addition to these items, there may also be a prerequisite ingredient, such as bones (skeletons become harvestable, also renewable underground in the form of ancient fossils).

 

So, the process might go:

 

 - Make shrine using Statue (x6 Marble)

 - Place items into Statue inventory (e.g. for Rain, insert x3 Beefalo Tears and 1 Bone) and press "Confirm"

 - Perhaps a meat sacrifice?

 - Seasonal/Environmental change ensues in 1-3 days.

 

Placing multiple sets of the same recipe can make effects last longer (e.g. if you want prolonged Thunder, you can make it last 3 times as long with x9 gold).

 

With longer effects, however, conditions harshen (thunder can overcharge lightning rods causing an explosion, rain causes erosion, winter storms cover structures with snow that has to be dug up with a shovel, summer heat makes objects left on the ground combust, etc). So, if you tried to escape from Winter by summoning summer, it would have to be very short-term or else these events will start occuring.

I think the season change needs to be more expensive... But my evil, cruel side is absolutely thrilled by the prospect of making beefalo cry.

Well keep in mind that the duration of seasonal change (per unit) is very limited, so you'll need a lot more resources to make it last and be worthwhile. The bones will also be somewhat challenging to obtain, especially if you run out of them on the surface. Do you have any suggestions for recipes?

 

We also need to figure out how to make beefalo cry...brand it with a heated stone rod?
