Uhh, being able to open the scrapbook from the main menu?
Seriously, there's no way to access it otherwise currently outside of being in the actual game world.

Oh and Killer Bee Hive spawns are pretty inconsistent (I've been getting Large worlds with only like 1-3 of them despite decent world arrangement), so at least have a way to make artificial KBee Hives?
Substituting them with Spider Dens (or even Hounds) isn't exactly ideal for characters (Willow, Wortox, etc.) that need to farm dozens of weak mobs with how much slower their respawns are compared to KBees and other issues.

There's also that issue about how a lot of body (and even some hats) items that isn't backpack or armor are just often deemed not very useful, but there's already another thread for that.

An actual Dedicated Second hand Slot. Something I can drag and drop an item over into and cycle to with a button press like double tapping Y quick or whatever.

Why do I want this? I beg any of you to play this game on Xbox ANY OF YOU, and I dare you to attempt to fight Celestial Champion, the moment that your walking cane no longer quickly switches back to your hand slot (which happens when you eat a food or healing item and that slot becomes empty after eating the item by the way…) you have to spend your time scrolling through your inventory to Re-Assign the Walking Cane to your Equipped items. In a fast and chaotic boss fight, the hardest part of the fight shouldn’t ever be juggling your inventory for cane & weapon.

The setting to play work music during dusk and night.
Since it only plays during day, you barely hear it during seasons like Winter and Spring, which I find to be a great shame as the music is quite grand.

this is pc specific but i would like if right-clicking a held item added it to your inventory the way that it does in shipwrecked. in dst i sometimes just end up accidentality eating fish jerky directly from the drying rack i am so used to how solo does it when i am pulling from the trawl net

if you are hosting the game you should increase your bee spawns in the world-gen settings. totally agree on the scrapbook though

Speaking of right clicking, I do wish that the game would make use of context menu (hopefully Elsewhere does) instead of 1 function right click.
Currently one of the few uses such feature could have I'd imagine is right clicking to be able to send off WX's delivery drone without it needing to have at least 1 item in it, since otherwise empty delivery drones gets dismantled/turned to item form when right clicked instead.
Maybe some other uses like right clicking to bring up a menu to empty filled water cans (for whatever reason) or what have you.

Also those world I had were on default setting and it's just inconsistent like that along with stuff like only having 1 MacTusk through the entire world which is just really annoying but not as important as lack of KBees.
Or maybe just have spiders (at least warriors) and hounds drop two Embers/Souls though that sounds more unbalanced than artificial KBee Hives.

Oh and I think it's worth mentioning that basic resource gathering for characters has gotten rather powercreeped too now with characters like spin WX, Wurt, or Maxwell's Servants, but spending an entire skill point for faster gathering (Woodie) just feels too wasteful?

I feel like the game could also benefit from having something like a scythe/shears/just give razors additional use to collect saplings/grass faster at least, especially for characters that aren't as specialized in resource gathering and because grass gekkos/twiggy trees are somewhat annoying/undertuned and they already have their own advantages over the classic variants.

context menu? do you mean like how consoles change what the default action is based on what you are touching?

You right click stuff and a small menu/list shows up of additional stuff you can do with it, just like on Windows when you right click a file or a page or a window.
It basically would allow an item to have several function without having to change its state like the aforementioned WX's delivery drone being able to be sent around the map with empty inventory when currently it needs to have at least one item in it to have that as an option.
Or you know, like how some characters has them when you use their stuff (i.e Willow's Embers, Wendy's Abigail Flower) to bring up a menu.
Except on more stuff and not necessarily tied to any characters.

Still, I don't play with controller or a console so I wouldn't know how they have it.

Well alternatively there's probably some argument about some complicated control schemes (surprisingly intuitive once you figured it out) like what Voices of the Void has, but translating it to a top-down view game like DS/T/E is probably a bit harder than having it on an first person game.

Also for whatever reason, my post count doesn't go up and my posts don't bump threads up. Guess that's the magic of having an account from 2014 for you.

I'd like to be able to view skill trees from the main menu as well.

Speaking of the main menu, there's also no way to rotate character facing on the Wardrobe either isn't there?
So you can't see how skins look like when facing to the side or facing away from the camera.

There's also item skins not having a preview for when held/equipped for stuff like armor or tools, weapons.

A big one I’ve wanted for a long time for console players is Tap, Double Tap, Held, & Combination Button Presses.

To explain that a bit better: Pressing Y will do one thing, quickly double tapping Y will do something else, Holding down Y for 3 seconds will do something else, And finally any other Button press at the same time as Y will perform a different action also (such as holding RB+Y)

Now for the controller uneducated, this is pretty much a standard in MOST console games, and also in SEVERAL Indie Games as Well, but for Klei and Don’t Starve it seems to be that Keyboard & Mouse are what’s most important, while leaving controller play in a poor & unfun state.

To drive that point home: on the console versions of the game you can go into Settings and you can Assign Camera Zoom in & Zoom Out button prompts, however by Default these are NOT ASSIGNED to any button, you can bind them Yourself… but because Klei didn’t put a ton of effort into being able to Bind button functions, most the time it will take the same button input as a another action.

To explain that more simply: I have my Camera Zoom In & Zoom Out buttons bound to LB and RB, however…. LB & RB also rotate the game world around you, a problem I wouldn’t be getting Dizzy over if Holding in LB or RB would Zoom In or Out, while tapping LB would Rotate the world.

In addition to that… we could get a ton more console controller functionality out of Tap, Double Tap, Held, and or Combination button presses, If you won’t update the default gameplay… then at the very least allow Button Binding to register them.

THEN I can assign Y+Y to always equip my Walking Cane (if I have one crafted) exactly like how Conan Exiles and Ark Survival work on Console controllers.

OR I can Assign hold in LB + RB to Zoom the Camera In, while Assigning LT + RT to Zoom Out.

The button hold actually does exist… on pc… the place it’s least needed

Being able to access skill trees from the main menu.

Minor buffs to various crock pot dishes so that they're actually worth making on occasion.

Better skin previews for certain items, like Winona's catapults. Seriously, it's hard to even find out what they look like outside of the inventory without already having the skin.

Some kind of beefalo analysis device that we can use on a beefalo to get a reading of its ride time, current hunger level, percentage of domestication, and tendencies.

A skin set for Walter that makes him look like a bipedal version of Woby (complete with a counterpart that makes Woby look like a quadrupedal Walter).

I made a quick sketch of how a Shadow Scarecrow could look and work.

It could solve two late-game problems at once: Brightshades possessing farm plants and Crystal Buzzards destroying mob farms.

It would be great if the Scarecrow could be upgraded. For example, after an upgrade, crows would start sitting on it. When Brightshades or Crystal Buzzards get close, the crows would fly off and scare them away.

And one more small detail suggested by deadtaco0: if you place the Scarecrow on the Lunar Island and walk far away from it, it would break. And if you hover your mouse over it, the character would say: "They did not appreciate it."

Crab king drops all fall in one place, and no ice/meat/barnacles drops from the minions and iceberg.

Please Klei.

Or at least not dropping the ton of obtrusive shells.

Maybe it can just drop a big chest like Ancient Guardian?

Being able to TP on top of Shadows and dropped items.

On my first Fuelweaver runs, I've been screwed over a few times because I had no idea entities and dropped items could block your teleports, and the battlefield would usually be littered with Nightmare Fuel/Woven Shadows.

It's probably fine now that I'm aware of this, but on my first tries when I was in the moment and needed to act fast, all I could think was "Why TF did the game ignore my TP???"

In general, there isn't a whole lot of preparation in the game to help you figure these things out, most bosses are just kite/bait out an attack, then hold F.

Fuelweaver kind of just throws you into the fire, which I think would be OK if there weren't these minuscule details that can screw you over, and you won't be finding out until you're already putting it into practice.
