The Telelocator Staff has always been the best way for us to move mobs. It's important for the later game and for the player explore.

However, if you have a Portation Orb network in the world, because there are activated Telelocator Focuses everywhere, it will be very difficult to send mobs to the place you want them to go, unless you remove each orb to shut down the entire network. This is very cumbersome and not fun at all.

So I hope there could be a feature that, when using the Telelocator Staff, if there are both Telelocator Focus activated by the Purple gem and Telelocator Focus activated by the Orb existing in the world at the same time, it will have a prioritize teleport to the Telelocator Focus activated by the Purple gem.

why couldn't you just remove the portation orbs from the telelocator staff before doing your mob moving stuff? Seems like you're trapping yourself in a box here

Is there any mob moving technique that isn't something you do once and then don't worry about anymore?

Remove portations orbs from dozens of Telelocator Focuses, and then plug them back? You really understand what you are saying?

We did originally discuss whether the Telelocator Staff should work at all with the upgraded Focuses.  I'll bring up the priority system with the team next week.

just a suggestion, maybe a new staff to go along with it? like maybe one made from Thulecite? and the orb pieces?
that would technically make it two separate things...

  1. Socketing fragments into staves (that will also increases number of uses of a fragment)? Unsocketed staves can teleport to fragments if there are no purple gem activated focuses, socketed staves can not teleport to purple gem activated focuses.
  2. Giving whole orbs durability and the ability to be used like a fragment? Staves can not teleport to fragment activated focuses.

It would also be nice if gems could be used together with fragments to reward planning ahead?

Maybe we could socket Orb Fragments into the Telelocator Staff, allowing us to freely choose which teleport point to send the mob to. That way the staff would still work seamlessly with the orb network without the current conflict.

Orb Fragments into the Telelocator Staff

I wish we could do the same with Winona's teleportation network, like a socket upgrade, giving you options of orb teleportation.

My most complex winona teleporting networks had like, 8 "Focuses", what are you.... doing? Can you post a picture of your world that both has 24+ telelocator focuses and also has mob moving thats frequent enough that this would genuinely be a frustration? This is all so hypothetical to me from my current standpoint

Ok it's my fault. I wanted to express 10 to 20. Fine, make it 8. Actually it makes no difference due to Focuses will be placed in all the important locations on the map. To move one mob, you have to travel around the map, twice? The first time is easy you just need to telelocate yourself and remove the Orbs. But the second time? Plug the Orbs back? Don't assume there is another teleportation. If this is not a big trouble, I don't know what will be.

My Winona network uses about 15, I think? The cave setup only has 6, but on the surface I have one for each point of interest and a few for transit, including on water. Of course you wouldn't need as many if you're using portation orb fragments to telelocate wherever you want. I don't actually mind fighting fuelweaver several times over, but it is definitely easier to farm CC for enlightened gemerators than farm Fuelweaver for portation orbs (I don't know if you have to fight the pillars again to get the keystone and reset the sanctum or not, but it's tedious either way).

Of course the main problem of teleporting mobs is that if you have already set a telelocator network up, you'd have to deactivate every single one if you want to make a varg or goat farm, then walk manually to reactivate each of them. It's not really a problem that comes up more than once or twice though.

They made a change that makes so it prioritizes ones with Purple Gems, if it cannot find one it looks for one with the Orb Fragments.
