Tzunki
Is the filter with the element sensor and shutoff valve really that prone to malfunctions? The lines are often clear, but every now and then a package goes in the wrong direction. wachunga
The sensor and shutoff combo is very reliable provided the pipes are always free flowing. Backups in the shutoff pass thru line will potentially cause a pass thru packet to stop on the shutoff while the sensor is reading a shutoff output packet, thus making the shutoff filter a pass thru packet into it's output line. This is probably what happened in your first example. The vent became overpressured and an oxygen packet got stuck on the shutoff input, the following chlorine packet tripped the sensor and the shutoff sent both packets thru it's output. Backups in the shutoff output line will cause an output packet to take the pass thru line instead. This is probably what happened in your second example. Shutoffs do not merge packets like a bridge, they can only output if their output pipe is totally empty. There was/is a packet blocking the shutoff output so the next polluted water packet could not get filtered and instead took the pass thru line to the reservoir. You will can avoid this problem by making sure the pass thru and output lines can never be backed up. Or you make a loop with as many shutoffs as you want filters and bridge your packets into that loop. The loop will always flow even if the outputs get backed up and the packets will always be filtered properly. BLACKBERREST3
You can make a mechanical filter with a gas / liquid valve set to .1 and some bridges.
