It guides the player through it from the start to the finish pretty naturally except for a couple of steps, and aside from those, it's feasible that you could actually do it from a starting point of zero game knowledge. It isnt, and is very not straightforward. Especially since the iridescent staff dropping a gem is an exception, when the green staff's whole downside is that it destroys gems. Lunar questline is filled with loads of random quests, discoveries, and really niche puzzle pieces. Saying its simpler than fuelweaver is weird. At the end of the day both are impossible blind. Your meant to learn from other players in game, out of these two, fuelweaver is significantlt easier to explain and do than celestial champion if you have help from other players. Its just four big steps that dont have a million other steps inside them. 1 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171556-just-waiting-for-the-new-dont-starve-at-this-point/page/4/#findComment-1867545 Share on other sites

A catastrophic failure when you made a mistake fighting enemies, ran away, encounter two terrorbeak and manage to kill them, only to be defeated because you forgot to have any way to warm up in winter is not exactly fun on the moment but can be in retrospect, especially if you feel you both managed some stuff well and died because of your errors. And it's also the kind of thing when you do want to do better on next world. I should probably clarify that DST is not ANY Of my friends type of game, no one on my friends list (my own real blood related family included) are truly “into the game” And they are only playing it (or trying to at least…) to try to Help ME do things I struggle to do own my own (such as actually do all the RPG quest lines and kill AFW & CC just so I can unlock “Affinity’s” and play with my characters Affinity locked perks. Because until I’m actually able to do that: playing in random servers with people who already have Affinities makes me feel like I’m unworthy of even being in the same lobby with them. “cool this wormwood can use lunar magic to create lunar pets sure wish I could do that…” “Wait Willow can set Bernie on Fire & use Dragonball Kamehameha blasts??” dang… Mine can’t do that… “Wigfrid can repair her spears with restrained static? How do i obtain Restrained Static?!” Oh wait… I have to activate Moonstorms, Moonstorms requires doing the entire Pearl Questline & then fighting CrabKing with her Pearl Socketed inside for the hardest version of his fight (meanwhile I can’t even beat him on what’s supposed to be the easiest version…) To cut this short: Klei locked cool character abilities behind bosses I need to actually have friends who are capable of staying alive long enough to reach & defeat, Otherwise… I never get to enjoy any of the Affinity locked Skills. And that pisses me off so much, that I’m praying Don’t Starve Elsewhere is more enjoyable Solo… so I don’t have to try and beg people who really just aren’t into the game, to help me progress in what used to be… my favorite game of all time. (it still is, but lately I just gave up on DST & went back to Solo DS or I play single player games so I ain’t gotta “beg” friends to try to help) 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171556-just-waiting-for-the-new-dont-starve-at-this-point/page/4/#findComment-1867563 Share on other sites

They will release DSE to cater to their playerbase (not you cuz you don't play the game) so, even if they make the difficulty scale with the players, they won't make it as easy as DS, they won't make DSE a non challenging game for people who can't take a challenge. So, in your case, accept you have to make use of the multiplayer feature. So, a JFK line is fitting for you situation "Do not pray for easy lives my friends, pray to be stronger men" 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171556-just-waiting-for-the-new-dont-starve-at-this-point/page/4/#findComment-1867678 Share on other sites

So, in your case, accept you have to make use of the multiplayer feature. So, a JFK line is fitting for you situation "Do not pray for easy lives my friends, pray to be stronger men" I want a game that scales based on either: How many players are actively in the world that scales up or down based on joining and leaving the game (like Borderlands) OR I want a game that scales it’s content & difficulty based on how many total players can ever join the world. (like how in TMNT: Shredders Revenge difficulty scales based on if you select 6, 4 or 2 max players) But you are absolutely right on one thing: DST is a 10+ Year old game running on a now highly outdated game engine, I highly highly doubt that Klei would waste development time and invest resource costs into adding “proper scaling” into DST because it is a very old game… however, I’m sure they are aware that DSE will be a Brand NEW game, and people will expect them to have both better ideas of how they want to handle multiplayer in the game, and better technology to do the things they previously couldn’t do. TL:DR it makes way more sense to spend the money, development time & resources on a brand new game that’s not even out yet, then it is to update something that’s over a decade old. PunkShark
Once you've beaten the survival part of DST it should have other goals that actually matter and give you an incentive to keep going. But these people are so driven by nostalgia that just because the game is no longer the same that they played 8 years ago and they've kept playing for 8 years means the game is no longer challenging. Because playing a game for that long no matter what it is will absolutely make you a beast at it if you put your mind to it. Adding more survival parts to this game is what the rifts do, but create minor inconveniences that "nobody" wants, despite that's how the game has always been. And they complain there's not enough survival to the game when it doesn't even matter to you. it's not suddenly going to change your skill level to a noob again if they suddenly added a new threat into summer cause you already know how to deal with it after everybody has sucked the content dry through guides and wikis and then complain its not hard enough. "it's just a boss rushing game now" only holds true if you know what you're doing, and it will always be like that cause the phase of struggling to survive is over for you, and has been for many years. 10 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171556-just-waiting-for-the-new-dont-starve-at-this-point/page/4/#findComment-1867789 Share on other sites

As much as I like the bosses there seems to be way too much of a focus on them for a survival game. The game is still fun at times for me otherwise I wouldn't still be playing it Edited May 24 by Hi. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171556-just-waiting-for-the-new-dont-starve-at-this-point/page/4/#findComment-1868141 Share on other sites
