When Shadow Rift first joined the game, developers used acid rain to represent the impact of shadow magic on caves, which I don't understand very well. I think acid rain should be caused by excessive damage to the natural environment, which is more related to "science", while Shadow Rift are completely "magical" events. How are they connected? It might be because we spend more time in surface anyway in general despite rare cases of cave basing, so I get it.... Maybe it's taking too long to have the arcs finished so the full picture Klei has is there for them but we here lost in the sauce. Okay, now about my wondering with this whole thing: 1 - what I think realistically will happen: > Day walker returns once again to fight for the power right before we get to reach it in the archives > We get to face the ancient entity Charlie has mirrored on her > The nightmare circle starts to happen on surface in new moons > Charlie finally finds a way to provoke and weak Alter so we have a final true ending - once lunar quest line is finished and when shadow one gets there, the final true ending is a fusion of both when we face Alter themselves in a fight that demands both lunar and shadow features. 2 - what I would like to see: This all is sooo fire and I'm so excited to see it, that alone will be super good, but I would add: > A new bat boss consumed by miasma and acid at the point it mutates and grows in guano zone because that biome is empty and not interesting at all - the loot could be a head that's like a moogles and imunizes to acid rain. > A new Mushroom creature each collor in each forest - getting the loot on all of em can trigger a fungus mixed in mixed forest, exact same reason, those places are so empty it needs more shenanigans happening.
