Klei has frequently made adjustments to the content after release. If it comes out with the caveat that the affinity is still a WIP I don't see why there'd be any confusion. It just seems like a very strange choice to lock it up entirely while they work on improvements.

true and i think you've noticed that people STILL get weird about it years after it happens. just today someone posted a complaint about a changed wigfrid thing from several years ago, the other day someone complained about a wendy change. i feel this will be no difference and i would be seeing wx complaints about shadow affinities in 2027

i dont think its that strange, when paired with the clockwork follower limit it seems quite clear they are trying to encourage people to play around with the lunar affinity more.

(which is understandable since they must have put a ton of work into it so it must suck that everyone seems to be dismissing it instantly)

From the way it’s been worded it sounds like it’s going to be aesthetic changes and the addition of pure horror, I don’t think it’ll be too significantly altered gameplay wise

I HOPE so but it wouldn’t be the first time they killed a unique ability in this tree

Not EVERYONE has been dismissing it there’s been a lot of praise going their way. Especially after the frequent buffs they’ve provided in the recent days

I’m blanking what other unique ability has been killed?

I will admit, I hope we keep the chassis collecting resources when inactive with the shadow alignment perk; and I do hope it stays for the live branch while its still worked on in Beta

considering that the shadow path will be locked, you won't even be able to put a nightmare fuel in the chassis

We're keeping the socketing, and adding Pure Horror.  Overall, we'd like to improve the theming of the effects to better match WX-78 as a character.

I really like the effect of being able to use mimic items granted by the Atrium possession. Please don't remove it.

I believe that right now, we do plan on keeping all the unique mechanics for the shadow alignment, but will rework how they appear and are tied to the progression of socketed item to include Pure Horror.  We really apologize for the confusion this causes!

Yes! The concept of plugging in shadow items for benefits is perfect glad to hear that part is being kept in while the effects are being made more coherent flavor wise.

It’s absolutely awesome that the existing mechanics are being kept! Adding Pure Horror will perfectly smooth out the progression path, letting players unlock the second upgrade right after defeating the Nightmare Werepig.

Disabled Year of the Clockwork Knight.

Does the Year of the Knight being locked mean it's getting a full rework? The luck stat is genuinely far too powerful, and it should be much harder to obtain.Additionally, the armor from the Year of the Knight event is cheap to craft yet extremely strong, nearly on par with Thulecite armor.

i assume the only change is that year of the clockwork is no longer enabled by default, and so you have to enable it like the other year of events.

if they were planning to rework it i would imagine the rework would have happened before they started wx-78's skilltree.

Hey guys, just a heads-up regarding tomorrow's update.  We're thinking of keeping the Shadow alignment part of the tree locked, so that we can continue working on it in the beta branch.

Cool. I'm mostly excited for the changes to charging stuff with like the Morning Star with Winona's Generators.
Speaking of, are there plans to make the Elding Spear be rechargeable like the Morning Star given it also is electric based?

Like chess, each player is now limited to 2 of each type of Clockwork followers at a time. (WX-78’s limit is 3 per type.)

That's REALLY clever actually holy cow! Also a slight boost to WX's identity being a robot is cute and flavorful for a small perk. Props to whomever came up with that!

Just because time passes doesn't make complaints change. I still want Pearl's island back.

Absolutely awesome! Are they also going to add Dreadstone and Dark Tatters that can be implemented in the chassis?

Could we order these followers to do something within their capabilities by themselves, such as having them cut down trees in a certain place? It always feels strange to imitate

I don't care about their quantity. The only thing I care about is whether they can stand a little farther away from me when I'm cooking or doing other work😅

Does WX think they can cheat at chess by keeping extra pieces hidden in their chassis, like an ace up their sleeve?

Changes

  • Possessed Chassis
    • Can now detect actions performed by the player spinning.

There is a new problem. When I need them to rotate and attack the enemy, they will give priority to choosing weapons with high attack power rather than high-attack weapons with rotation ability

If the previous unique mechanics are kept and new items are being included, perhaps WX could get a Mechanical Heart item that he would upgrade, so instead of swapping fuel, horror, hearts they would be permanent additions?

If you don't plan to make too many changes and just add some new things, I don't think you should lock the skills at the time of the official update. There are many people around me waiting to start a new save file after the update, and I think they wouldn't be willing to play a content that looks unfinished.
