General vibe - resources are low, gathering for better resources will be much harder and combat is nerfed.

Your best bet at cooperation - to help factions around the map to rebuild their towns, set up trading, help rebuild defenses and arm up yourself.

Trading should be vital along with some currencies to be exchanged with, selling veggies, resources and crops to get something improved, new tools, ways to work with food and metals perhaps. In depth cooking mechanics with potential failure? Maybe diseases, ailments and broken bones...

how can combat be nerfed? just nerfing the damage the player does will feel very terrible

I would imagine what they mean is that they want direct combat to be a less prominent, universal solution to enemy encounters it has become, and more of a "last resort", with players being incentivised to deal with threats through alternative methods, like back in the older days of don't starve.

The Dont starve franchise has always been about hitting something a few times then moving out of the way of its one slow attack. And when it’s not.. you just armor up and tank incoming damage. Unless Klei drastically alters the combat for DSE (to the point it plays more like Moonlighter or something similar…) I don’t see that changing much.

But I would LOVE an actual Dodge & Jump button, because this also opens doors we never had before, such as jumping over enemy Lazer beam attacks that are low to the ground, or Dodge rolling under them.

I also think the game would benefit GREATLY from incorporating an actual Stamina bar system, even the game “Graveyard Keeper” has a Stamina Bar and you have to recharge it by eating energetic foods, drinking a potion or by going home to sleep.

But the DS franchise has always had methods of “Sleep Anywhere” with the Bedroll & Tents etc… so it would give the items more use outside of conveniently restoring health and sanity.

i lowk see Dont Starve kiting the exact same way i see kiting in other games (elden ring and hk, just without the i frames from dodge/dash), it just looks less glamorous i think is why everyone else sees it differently
