Frankly I'm surprised Klei has had this go the way it is for so long. They made it so you can get infinite Deerclops, you literally spawn him as much as you want on command by using an item like it's Terraria, but they did nothing to address the 10,000x more important Mactusk camps? The eyebrella is not unique at all in its functionality of protecting you from either rain or heat, but the walking cane basically is. The closest there is to another walking cane is the thulecite club which is 2.5x worse, or a lazy explorer which is technically obtainable but wholly impractical, especially for trying to outfit 5+ players.

Yeah, you can just use a rain coat if you don't have an eyebrella, it's not like you need a backpack equipped during a boss fight and helmets are the more popular armor choice anyway. Woodie canes are the only real walking cane alternative and they're locked behind a single character's perk and are objectively worse.

What's worse is that the flare has always summoned them, but only if they're not on respawn timer.

I think in singleplayer and playing with just one or two friends the walking cane situation is fine but to accommodate public servers (as they have done in many other ways on many other occasions) they should do that Mactusk thing I said where there's always about 4 of 'em, and they should make it so that the Ancient Guardian's chest guarantees a Lazy Explorer in it so if somebody braves the ruins they can lighten the walking cane load the server requires. Everybody loves walking canes, it's probably the most sought-after item in the entire game, and the discrepancy of ease of availability depending on whether you're playing in a private or public server and whether you're unlucky or not is way too big I think.

I've seen, on several occasions, people joining the server, instantly using a cheat mod to see the entire map, saying there's no triple tusk biome, and immediately either calling a vote to regen if they joined early enough to do that, or telling other people to regen if they didn't. Those guys are going to be cheaters regardless, but I think them doing that is demonstrating a core issue with the world generation where people are cheating to see if they got a 'bad world' or not. The triple tusk is so important they're willing to cheat and regen to get it. I haven't seen them do this with any other features, only the triple tusk biome.

cane is really not that unreplaceable tbh, beefalo are just much better tool for traveling and cane is really there as a combat tool

Not everyone wants to play as Beefalo all the time, though, and... yeah, cane's a great combat tool. But yeah, sometimes people like to play WX-78 or combat Wormwood. Or they want to play Wanda and actually use her cool teleporting stuff.

Almost every tree in this set piece has one of these two Walrus features. This tree has both, in fact.

Isn't it enough to leave the event enabled in the settings? People already do that to face Klaus every 20 days (and many other Winter Feast features).

at that point why not just make mac tusk amount to lots

I think I'd rather coinflip the ancient guardian kill for lazy explorer than paddle around for hours for a 10% chance of getting it from a sunken chest

The 3 MacTusk biome is relevant, but not indispensable, as there are solutions within the game itself for that. The Killer Bee biome is much more important than it (in my opinion).

In my view, it would be great if there was an option in world generation to force the MacTusk and Killer Bee biomes.
Since it doesn't exist, I use a mod for that when I'm playing as Wanda or Wortox (it would also be relevant if I were playing as Willow). Of course, I could create a world and keep using the command to regenerate it until the biome appears, but it's less work to use a mod for that.

So, in my conclusion, the ideal wouldn't always be to have these biomes, but rather to always have the option to generate them when creating the world in the game settings.

My criticism of creating a world with many MacTusks lies in the fact that they are always close to each other, forcing you to fight all the walruses at once. I think Klei should modify this in the world generation code.

Why not just make the second birch a spawn location for the triple macrusk?

i would rether see new specific structure that always spawn on second birch forest. for example chest with moggles next to birchnut tree that change into poison birchnut tree. Soo basicly ruin rushing buff. Just buffing every world to easier walking caine is lame game design, Klei should focus of diffrent rewand for diffrent biomes. In extra Sawanna we could find dead beffolo trainer with brush and random saddle, extra swamp could give player nice start boat. Diversity is better

I'm of the opinion that variety is better. Triple Mac biome has nothing going for it outside winter.

Putting Mactusk respawn on "Lots" is the best solution, and even console players can do it.

This excludes official Klei servers because they deserve no consideration.

I like the idea that public servers, in the multiplayer game Don't Starve Together, the most popular way to play the game, deserves no consideration. The only thing that deserves no consideration is singleplayer. If you really hate the triple tusk biome you can just mod it out or regen the world when it happens or something.

not everybody wants to forsake a beefalo for canes all the time either; the thing that makes these things interesting is that you select the best option for the situation. I think a second mactusk camp in the second birch biome if you dont get a triplet would be a good middle ground so players aren't spammed with tusks and tams every game but they can still readily equip themselves with canes in one winter if they put in the effort.

Im a big fan of RNG. And DST needs more of it.

The rng needs to be more interesting than "your world sucks in comparison now". Terrible design.

I like the idea you touched on of if you dont get triple mac, you get something else that's interesting. Could probably do the same for killer bee biome.

Biome generation could really use an update in general, for worlds to be more balanced and interesting. It's a personal wishlist thing, that I'm not sure the developers will ever do.

There was a time when there were no them in the world at all. I think it's a bad idea. Why? 1 or 3 is the diversity of biomes.

You'll say "multiplayer".

I'll say "The generation of multiplayer and single-player games should be different."
