I always use survivor-specific stuff even if i have access to better generic options. Like i never stop making and using compost wraps no matter how big my jellybean stack gets

in addition to changing outfits based on season i also like putting on a combat outfit if im going to fight a big boss. I especially love this wicker outfit cuz it reminds of tilda swinton as the white witch in narnia

I will also regularly grow giant crops even though im always drowning in meat and other lower effort food options.

i also try to adhere to the alignment of the survivor im playing as much as possible in all aspects of the game like base decor, outfit, gear etc

i actually do a tonnn of things that could be seen as impractical  but thats the only way i can have fun. i have to make my own rules and limitations to make things interesting.

i actually have a lot of bespoke little rules in solo based entirely on the world-type<3

so i am curious; is there any "non-practical" thing you do in ds/t for the pleasure of immersive playing? personally i like to give my pigs bandanas when we go sailing and i change my outfits based on the weather

I have quite a lot actually

I always make sure I’m playing a different character from my friends so we’re all unique characters

I like to use the rain hat and coat when fishing

I ALWAYS have Chester follow me no matter what (he is my friend)

I change my skin based on the season (mainly as wormwood I don’t do it as much with Wilson)

I have many “pets” that being 2 koalaphants, a salamander and a gulper I brought up from the caves on my head.

I used to carry wagstaffs clipboard with me but I lost it so… that’s not good

Not sure if these count: I don’t build mob farms. Pig farms occasionally.

I carry grass and twigs AND lantern AND a headlight. Can’t be too safe.

I try to avoid destroying pig and bunny houses. They’re hard to replace! (they really aren’t)

I’ve become a moon glass axe / cutter guy. Yes the ham bat has infinite durability, but the cutter looks infinitely cooler.

if you do them because it is immersive and not because of practical reasons then i'd say it counts! for sure using the glass tools expressly for aesthetics is something i'd personally say is something done for pleasure

I like to shoehorn character specific items/perks into everything I do.

Lighter, Bernie and Fireball are my 3 essentials for almost everything I do. And if I can't use my Lighter, Bernie or Fireball, then I refuse to engage in that content (sometimes).

There’s a lot of stuff I do for immersive playing.

I will never replace Abigail’s flower. Unless it catches fire, I’ll do literally anything to get it back.

If I’m playing as Wes, I don’t use the chat at all. Unless something really important happens, I communicate solely through emotes.

Sometimes I build character exclusive structures just so the base can feel like home. I almost never use the Sisturn for raising sanity. I just like giving Abigail her own room.

I like building a whole room for Webber with decorated spider dens and toys scattered on the floor. There have been several occasions where the swarm broke out.

I go full grandma mode when playing as Wickerbottom. Finally, my encyclopedia of Hoodwinked quotes is useful.

When playing as WX-78, I never destroy the science machine. Their mother lives in the base with us now.

I have seasonal outfits for all my favorites. I like the outfits I made for Webber the most. He grows his winter coat for the cold and steals Abigail’s overalls in the spring.
