You know honestly.. I think I lost interest in  Dont Starve Together when it just became to complex and complicated for my brain to keep up with.

For Context: I’ll download a game, Enjoy said games gameplay but when I find out that game has six different types of currencies and I have no clue WTH they are even used for: that’s when I uninstall said game & never look back at it.

Thankfully DST currencies are straightforward, but unfortunately the gameplay itself has become a complex mess that expects the player to learn, know (or mostly Twitch stream watch) to progress within the game.

I wish a Klei dev would sit down and actually write down a 1 by 1 objective list from Objective A to your currently intended Goal & realize that it is a huge ask of players to do X, Y, Z before they can experience and enjoy something as minor as SawHorse decor or Pearls Christmas event.

(A 1 by 1 objective list would = counting Exactly how much silk the player is required to gather to build a boat to sail to pearls etc…)

And THEN I would like to directly challenge any explanation that they possibly come up with by stating that Charlie’s Stage Play, Baltaro Poker Machine, Bush Hounds, And even Winters Feast Gifts themselves grant the player far far more powerful and actually useful tools then having the ability to place a chair in your base and sit will.

Someone really ought to make a mod that lets you tell Wagstaff to shove it when he tells you to evict Pearl and then you just do his boss fight thing on a custom scrap island elsewhere in the ocean instead. Like, an alternate Pearl postgame path where her island is preserved. I doubt Klei's going to pay any mind to the fact that this poll shows 70% of players would like a change to the current Pearl relocation point and that more are unhappy with her island's destruction than like it.

okay but then over half of all the votes in that poll don't care, or don't feel strongly either way about it :P

I'd be up for another island that forms over time (like how the Moon Quay formed from magma spilling out of the unnatural portal) for the WARBOT fight to take place on, but at this point, I don't think Klei's gonna budge on this, unfortunately.

eeeeeh, the like to dislike is only a difference of a single vote. it is nearly a perfect split....and even comboing the like and dislike they do not come close to the votes of much much more difficult fight if you choose to tell off wagstaff would be fairly interesting especially if it actually took place in a spot that put the player at a marked disadvantage to pearl's place so that the player would really have to suffer to prove their loyalty to the old gal over wagstaff)

I havent lost interest in the game, its still my most played game and i hop on it a good amount, but i most just like whats already in the game, the skilltrees (only the good ones lol), and the few good fragments like the new cave biome. But i feel like a lot of new features i dont like negatively impact my gameplay, most the time im forced to engadge in them because someone in my server does, mainly riffs, or i would like it but there is one big issue that wont be fixed (the pearl update).

Alot of the riff updates i dont really hop on to try except a little in beta. I just play with them when i happen to stumble onto them.

Id imagine if there was a way to get casuals on statistics, the number would be even higher.

Whenever i talked about the new update when playing the game, everyone i saw in the server i played was really dissapointed the pearl stuff was post riff. Though was just a meow server.

And what I mean by that is that Wigfrids downside of only being able to eat meaty foods only actually mattered BEFORE there was an ocean of water around her to pull fish out of almost anywhere.

Sure lakes and their cave counterpart didnt exist in DS.

Sure pierogi and meatball spam didnt exist in DS.

Sure wigfrid didnt have sanity and health regen on kills which was enough to live by eating cooked monster meat in DS.

Wes the so called “Challenge” Character got the ability to more easily regain Sanity with Party Balloons that are practically free that does not require any hard to obtain resources or drain durability of item & this is BEFORE he gets a skill tree to make playing him even better?

You need multiple players (up to 4, max gain is 16) so you actually gain sanity instead of losing 1 sanity when alone. Its +3, +7, +11 profit for 2, 3 and 4 players.

Foods that use to stop growing at all during Winter season can now be grown regardless of season.

Farms still do work during first and last days of winter so you can still hoard food if you get some manure. Plus winter doesnt mean all your berry bushes lose all their berries, you can still harvest them.

And if you somehow have nothing left and its middle of winter you can always hunt for meat and spam bacon and eggs.

Wormwood the character who’s downside use to be having difficulty healing now literally has skills to passively heal when blooming.

Batbat which you can obtain in first few days is obtainable in solo DS as well and is much more efficient than healing perk which is slow and works only in blooming stage.

So no, DS isnt even remotely close to hardcore and uncompromising survival either

Since they are sticking with Pearl’s island being destroyed, and her house being moved into your base (side note, just having everything being put in base isnt fun, she was an important set piece in the ocean),

THIS

Plus the blind aspect, is what brings me to dislike totally and going against Klei's direction with Pearl. These are two big problems. For crying out loud, Klei specifically stated during the years they didn't want to incentivize "turtle" gameplay and what do they do? Another thing placed on your (pratically) official base in the first level, incentivizing turtle gameplay. Then we're surprised why the other 4 levels don't have anything and we scream for more impactful content.

Pearl WAS the impactful content of the Ocean, that has been torned up for no reasons. This is unbalanced.

This would explain stuff like the mysterious seeds being soft gated past day 150.

No my dude. That is because of their balance, believe it or not.

It’s highly unlikely.. we already know they don’t even play their own game so maybe they just don’t know how to balance it?

like I mean.. is the difficulty/risk at this certain stage of gameplay worth the payoff/reward/world changes?

Thats something gamers consider, but developers, especially SANDBOX Developers, often never do.

WOW.

Mike did an excellent analysis. Yeah, this is another way to put it ^^^ Bravo.

Never knew they were trying to prevent turtle gameplay. Especially since they do anything but prevent it. They literally keep adding things for turtle gameplay- you can now grow gems at base, grow bananas, and have pearl at base. At least the boulder trees were changed but still.

Yes, they said long ago, but it's for sure not something they care today and it genuinely hurts me and the game because I want to dream and breathe a better Ocean where to build an ocean base, a finished Caves where my cave base is far more important and impactful for survival than what we have now, a better finished Ruins to have a scary anxious epic ruins base constantly fighting shadows trying to infect you and an upgraded Lunar Island + Grotto to have a strange out-of thid world lunar base.

I LOVE and adore to the end boulderbough trees, but I didn't want to give the criticism during the beta, that maybe they should have been usable only on Caves and Ruins (well tecnically is how we're using them right now, but you CAN use them on the surface).

It's o-kay and wonderful to have items unlocked in a specific part of the game and then being sharable in all the other levels, but sometimes they must be confined in those levels because otherwise you undermine their importance, the gameplay and the design. Even the gameplay loop and replayability if I must add.

You can but you only get nitre and stuff.

Its only worth using them in the caves, and specifically the ruins.

Pretty awful and clumsy way of "balancing" them, if true.

Why not just put them behind time consuming ocean travel and winching, and handing the cracked pearl over, and a random chance on top of that of getting a seed, and a random chance on top of that of getting the seed you want?

Oh wait.
