The game is a survival one. Players have, on their own accord, created this megabase mentality. Cool, do what you want. I can't help point out, this game is not designed to be a painting canvas. In that sense, it's going to have defects. If you want a beautiful canvas for your exquisite painting then perhaps you shouldn't be shopping in the wrong store.

You make it sound like console command is cheating but all the mods I see on bilibili aren't.

I think I’ve already made my point very clearly in my post. If you only play short-term worlds, then please take the time to carefully read what I’ve written. Do you actually know what late-game and ultra-late-game saves look like?(And may I ask—did you see the metaphor I mentioned? Did you notice what I said about chain reactions, and how playing the game with players of different skill levels can trigger all kinds of cascading effects?And did you understand this point as well: this game is not an empty arena where one person simply fights one creature. It’s a complex system. It’s a game that has already become a solid high-rise building, not an empty construction site where you can just add whatever you want without consequences)

This is not about loot. It’s about whether long-term players are still able to experience new content at all. The developers have already added more than enough junk mechanics. Are you saying that if the developers continue to design only for short-term players, then long-term players should just accept that ten or twenty future updates’ worth of new content will be completely unplayable—unless they turn off game settings? Or resort to using console commands and effectively cheating?

I’ve already talked about all of this in my post.

You might think what I’m saying isn’t important—but I think you should actually look at the comment sections under those videos. Observe them. Summarize them. Look at how players are reacting. Don’t just rely on how you feel—look at how others are responding. Those reactions exist for a reason.

Why do so many people host modded servers in the game lobby? There’s a reason for that. It’s not because the developers’ designs are so good—it’s because the foundation of the game itself is strong. If the game didn’t have expansions, if it didn’t give out free skins, if there weren’t AFK skin-farming servers keeping people logged in, the game’s popularity would drop dramatically.

At the same time, you can also try to understand the phenomena I mentioned and think about why these things are happening. The player base is already shrinking. On the English wiki, when new items are added, most of the updates now only include basic numerical data.

Do you know how many people watched the developers’ livestream a few days ago? Fewer than 200 people stayed to watch the entire one-hour stream. Isn’t that already enough to illustrate the problem?

If you want a more precise analogy, I would say this game is like a singer who has already lost their popularity. This singer was once incredibly talented, creating songs across many different styles. But now, most updates only focus on a single style, catering to a single audience—and many of the melodies are basically the same as songs they wrote before (the developers’ code reuse problem is extremely serious).

Do you know what some of the harshest things people say on our side are? When chatting with others, some people say that the developers don’t usually do much work, and when it’s finally time to work, they rely on copying and pasting old code to drastically reduce their workload. A huge portion of the remaining work is then dumped onto the music designers and artists.

Of course, you don’t have to believe what I’m saying. But if they’re willing, they could carefully ask the deep Chinese player community about these points—such as wiki authors, or even the newly appointed Klei Ambassadors in China.

Irrelevant. Klei has a dedicated forum for feedback. They don't need to care about people posting comments in videos or whatever.

Just tell people to come to the forums and give feedback in a constructive manner. It's not Klei's job to go out of their way to seek feedback, they have better things to do in their work hours.

Videos are only useful to Klei if they are showcasing a specific problem/bug, otherwise they're basically worthless, and so are the comments. Nobody has time to watch opinion videos and read comments in their work hours. The forums are simply a better tool for that.

To be honest, I’m not very willing to keep replying. I’ve been on the forum for quite a long time, and I already have a fairly clear impression of some of the active users there. Your arguments, in my view, usually don’t have much logical structure and are mostly emotional expressions.

I rely on AI translation to communicate on the forum, which adds an extra step and makes things rather troublesome. I don’t think it’s worth my time to respond to questions that lack logical coherence. However, I do think AI can help answer your questions, and its responses are quite reasonable.

If you choose to continue replying to me, I will pass your attitude and arguments to AI and respond based on its answers—that will save time. Rest assured, I won’t add any specific prompts to steer the AI toward my own position, nor will I pick out a single sentence and exaggerate it to negate everything you’ve said.

Also, the forum has a block function—you’re free to block me, which might be beneficial for both of us.

Who told you it’s not meaningful? For a sandbox game, everyone should be able to choose the way they want to play. The game has an endless mode—you should know that. Why do you think the developers added this mode in the first place?

In my view, when I talk about “long-term play,” I mean saves that last for several thousand days, even tens of thousands of days. Some players genuinely enjoy playing this way. Sure, from a streaming perspective, Don’t Starve after thousands of days might not be very entertaining to watch, but for individual players, this is exactly where the fun lies.

It’s just like playing a very long-term vanilla save in Minecraft. For the player themselves, that experience is the enjoyment.

The difference between what you said and what I said is, a bad player ruining something because theyre bad is not opinion. You considering these changes to be garbage trucks is opinion.

To some, theyre fun obstacles, and instead having a boring drive with a super car we get to have fun trying to drift around all these cool new things.

Because I personally feel that continuing this conversation with you doesn’t have much meaning. Your arguments seem to be largely based on personal subjective views while ignoring some basic facts. But that’s fine—my thoughts and opinions aren’t important, and you don’t need to take them to heart.

I think we both need to understand one thing: when someone stubbornly believes in certain ideas, it’s very hard to have a real dialogue with them. That applies to both you and me. So I don’t think there should be much further interaction between us. I believe my logic is well-grounded, and I assume you also believe you’re right.

For me, the most important thing is that I didn’t come to this forum to argue with people, but to give feedback—and above all, to make sure the developers see it. That is my primary goal. To maintain harmony on the forum, I suggest that we stop engaging with each other.

Aside from bug-related issues, I’ve also seen you discussing things in many other threads. From the way you reply, I can roughly tell what kind of person you are, and I don’t think there’s much for us to talk about. Still, I’m willing to give you one suggestion: you can copy what I’ve said into an AI and ask it, in a neutral way, whether there are problems, mistakes, or whether there’s nothing of value at all. You can also put your own logic into the AI and see how it responds. Please rest assured, what I said is not a personal attack, even though you may feel that it is. What I’m expressing is simply my genuine thoughts. If you have questions for me, you can take screenshots of your post, your opinions, and the content of my post, and give them to an AI to evaluate. I believe an AI can provide a relatively neutral judgment. I also believe the AI may respond better than I can. Thank you for your reply.

It's a classic logical fallacy, you don't know how to counter someone's argument, so you attack the person in a way to discredit their argument without addressing the argument itself. I'm just calling you out on it. You pretending that you don't know what it is that you are doing won't change that fact.

To give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe the translator software you are using is confusing "attacking the person" with "insulting the person", which is not really equivalent in this case. "You are someone who doesn't argue logically" is actually attacking the person, not the argument. This isn't really up to debate.

It's a classic logical fallacy, you don't know how to counter someone's argument, so you attack the person in a way to discredit their argument without addressing the argument itself. I'm just calling you out on it. You pretending that you don't know what it is that you are doing won't change that fact.

To give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe the translator software you are using is confusing "attacking the person" with "insulting the person", which is not really equivalent in this case. You are simply trying to discredit my argument by attacking me instead of my actual argument, which is a logical fallacy.

Hence why I'm still waiting for the actual response to my point.

Please copy and paste or screenshot my entire article and send it to an AI, then ask the AI your questions. Ask whether this article truly has no value, which parts are reasonable, and which parts—if any—are incorrect. I believe the AI can answer your questions very well.

Can't say much would be lost by losing someone who starts openly trolling on the moment someone disagrees with them on their view that video comments are relevant, but rest assured that Klei doesn't really ban people for this kind of light trolling, so nothing really will come out of this. The other person just made it clear to anyone looking that they're arguing in bad faith and can't really counter others' arguments, that's all.

Also... Calling someone out on their nonsense is not "illogical pestering", it's just pointing out their bad faith actions, really. If they really wanted to stop interacting with me, they would have just blocked me or simply refused to reply to my posts calling them out instead of blabbering nonsense about AI that is obviously trolling. It's pretty clear that they just want an emotional response here.

Hey could you please elaborate on this if you can? I tried to find this setting and there only three options. One is "Update immediately whenever the update is available". Another is "Let Steam decide when to update" - uhhh, no thanks. Finally, the last one was "Update only when game is launched" that's also not what I want. I know this because earlier today my Internet turned off for a bit and DST switched to offline mode when it couldn't find Internet connection. After restarting my router and getting the Internet to work again I was surprised to see DST still stay in offline mode and unable to launch any of my worlds. I couldn't find any button to bring DST back into online mode and I didn't want to close my game window I had opened since Thursday before the latest update. I panicked thinking that's it and I would need to close my game to be able to launch my world again. But eventually I managed to fix it by going to the Mods menu and pressing "Save changes" without actually changing anything. This made the game unresponsive with the black screen for good two minutes and I thought it was about to crash but then it went back to the main menu and it was online again. 

I wonder if closing the game, then going offline and launching it again would work for disabling the update. Then maybe I could bring it to online mode with the same trick I described. But I don't want to take any risks and accidentally have the update installed against my will so guess for now I will keep my game window opened. My computer has no rest now and is forced to have this sh*t running 24/7 just so I don't receive a mandatory update I don't want and never asked for.

You can reconnect the internet as soon as Steam launches the game, just in time for login. Changing mod settings will let you try to login again. The only thing you shouldn't do is launch the game while connected.

A saner option is to figure out Steam depot. (Or maybe you can move the game folder out of the Steam directory?)

Relatedly, using the depot allows you to download only the changed files between updates, which is much faster. IDK why it seems to basically redownload the entire game by default each update.

If you add your current manifest ID after the update one, you'll only download changed files. I just save the command in a text file and use the ID from last time. Only useful if you plan on updating your separate installation.

Oh my god they destroy all structures with their flames, they seems invincible, they fly, their flames are just too strong, you get cold and you're going to die due to freezing, they're infinite, they always land near me. How can i get rid of them? how can i handle them? how can i beat them? my weapons seem useless, my entire army just died, trap are useless, what can i do? how do i solve this problem?

I've gotten used to these mobs. I can coexist with them while taking similar precautions as I would with wildfires or fire hounds.

The last update fixed a bug that always forced you to fight about 30 of them.

Not nearly as bad now. I still wish they gave a little warning period when they first got in your area, though. You can still miss a few from the first wave, and they will obliterate everything.

Having properly experienced lunar buzzards I will say I'm fine with their mechanics however there should be a chance for the wave to just skip altogether and then go on cooldown again. Lunar buzzards shouldnt be as persistent/predictable as hound attacks are.
