Compared to light bulbs, the duration of Slurtle Slime is only half of it, which is really outdated. When DS Caves World first joined the game, there were indeed very few Light Flowers, but after so many updates, they are now almost spread throughout the entire caves, while the Slurtle Slime is still stuck in place. It's time for it to keep up with the times.

Allowing Slime to temporarily expand the maximum illumination range and slow down the consumption rate, distinguishing it from light bulbs, gives us more reasons to obtain it.

While I do indeed like your proposal, I would be even down for Klei to just switch lightbulbs fuel duration with slurtle slime. There are indeed so many lightbulbs in the Caves (and Ruins).

To be honest, I don't think it's a problem to reduce the time of the light bulbs by half anymore, because their quantity is so large that you don't have to prepare extra fuel and can pick light flowers almost anytime. Unless you enter the depths of the Ruins (such as Labyrinth).

DST's light flowers sleep periodically, according to the developers at the time, to prevent players from relying on their light all the time. But it's basically useless with so much fuel.
