I feel like its a good opportunity to revert old change when drying racks were changed to be in line with woby's rack under a false assumption that woby's rack interface was superior.

There's too much clicking now just to dry some stuff one by one, it would've been better if racks accepted up to a full stack of same item. Simple, quick, no new art needed.

Please take this into consideration.

i imagine the interaction would go like this: you open up a 3/9 slots rack, shift-click on a stack of meat (20), and they all split into 1 meat into each of the slots, leaving behind 17/11 meat

That would be 2 clicks - one to open a rack, second to put stuff in. You would also need to hold a keyboard button during second click.

Compare that to just putting stuff on a rack without having to open it first. Why would you even want to have a slot system for a structure that you fill with multiples of same item anyway?

idk clicking on the stack of meat in your inventory, hovering it over the rack, clicking the meat onto the rack, feels like the same amount of effort to me, which is not significant enough for you to complain about.

also, i imagine people might not put *all* of the same thing inside the rack, but mix it up with whatever they have/want

It isn't the same effort. It only takes to drag stuff from inventory to the rack and click once to put it up for drying as I suggested, whereas what you suggest requires moving mouse over a rack first, clicking it once, then moving it back to the inventory, clicking on stuff while holding shift as well.

Your approach also has few downsides that weren't mentioned earlier:

- You are still limited to 3/9 items per rack, while stack sizes of dryable items are 20/40. You would still need 6+ racks to put a stack worth of items.

- With slot system stuff still spoils while drying. You can no longer put almost spoiled food to save it by drying. If you miscalculated drying and remaining spoilage time, or if rain started while you weren't there you end up with rot instead. Previously stuff didn't spoil while drying, and rain only paused drying timer - you would still get jerky, only later. Slot system requires babysitting to turn off rains with character-specific option if they happen or turning on umbralla which only becomes available after turning on shadow rift.

^This downside was also mentioned several times by multiple people, which was also called a nerf by some and was also enough of a nerf for some to stop using racks completely. So much for an improvement.

Now to upsides:

- You can mix stuff you dry. How often would that happen though compared to having to lots of stuff to dry without much variance?
