are we just gonna completely ignore public servers being forcibly crashed because a group of people are trolling by inputting more ingame messages than the server can handle? this is a serious issue that is impacting the game's overall health and replay ability. I seldom make it to winter on a public server anymore and I am seeing a lot of alts account being created to join and do this. I loved this game in 2014 and I still do so it really pisses me off that there is complete silence on this issue and no one, ESPECIALLY, our friends on Twitch would have stood for this back in the good ol days.

at first I thought it was a mob such as spiders overloading the server but as of late its come to my attention that this is the work of someone with a lot of time on their hands.

You can make your own servers, yes, but why should I have to yield because some loser who is spamming millions of messages in the character pre-select? I started playing again about 1-2 months ago after a 4-5 year break and this is such a frustrating thing to deal with because Don't Starve Together is not a serious game, it's chill and the community is great, I see the same people playing everyday and I can tell they've had it with wasting their time instead of having fun and I think 1 person ruining everyone else's fun is completely unacceptable. Does anyone else agree?

If so there would be no way to crash the server. this is all information being passed on to me. last night i hopped into a public server and they were kicking random players and I asked them why? they told me the situation and they have compiled a literal list of every alt account this person makes and it just keeps happening too frequently and im starting to lose interest again cause as I said previously why should 1 person be able to do this? furthermore if anyone on these forums play public servers and have their time wasted, the save completely destroyed, where is the outrage?

normally i dont really join in on these kinds of posts but i have actually been avoiding pubs for a little while now because of crashers.

This is one of the reasons I started hosting my own public server. So, I've actually started spending money to avoid this, lol.

Я любил эту игру в 2014 году и люблю до сих пор, поэтому меня очень бесит, что по этому поводу царит полное молчание и что никто, ОСОБЕННО наши друзья на Twitch, не поддержал бы это в старые добрые времена.

In 2014, DST has not even released a beta version of DST yet. :geek:

They should add a cool down for messaging.

You SHOULD join in on these posts. If you love the game and the community as much as I do then there is no reason to stay silent on the issue. This game is simply far too time consuming for one person to just join a server and do this. The servers need to be stronger against things like this otherwise it'll never stop happening. I'm well aware that Klei cannot stop someone trolling on alt accounts but it is 100% their responsibility to investigate and prevent their own servers from being destroyed. No one will buy your skins if they can't play the game, Klei

that's not really the point of the post but I had an alpha key

heres a fun video of the good ol times

for this reason as well I shouldn't have to buy and moderate my own server so that people can play on it. Like the crap pc I had back then as shown in the video, most people don't have the capabilities or extra money to host their own server because of, again, 1 human ruining other people's fun.

what pisses me off more is that knowing Klei was willling to jump at the opportunity to remove Long Pig from the game but does little to nothing when someone is actually causing problems on their servers that only they can investigate and deal with otherwise you're forced to give them money to host your own server. So not only are they permitting it? they are PROFITING from it. This issue takes far more precedent than skill tree reworks

That sucks, but I advise you to look for dedicated servers with like admins and stuff. I think Klei public servers dont have moderation at all. I joined "The Survivors" Discord a couple years ago, and it has a lot of admins banning grieffers or trolls, its pretty good tbh. Some servers have ownership mod so its harder for griefers to do their shenanigans

fella that used mods for evil. it's why a lot of mods stopped working a bit ago.

I'm very not evil, more like playing an 'anti-hero' or something along the lines.

As you can see, interpretations of him vary from person to person, so please decide for yourself what kind of person he really is.

That's valid and fair. My feelings are mixed when it comes to word 'evil' as it's not part of my world view XD

Oh... On December 15, 2014... yes, I was just a little bit wrong.

Yes, I know. I also don't like the way servers work... Even in solo...

Guys, the bug was fixed a couple of months ago.

Well, the report is still on "Pending", so we couldn't have known unless you know how to use the exploit and tried it (again). :')

Anyway, Klei is not going to check their log files to see what is going on at their servers, I'm afraid. Right now – while writing this – this US server is getting raided again by imposters who use names of other players.

Unless Klei starts taking action, I can recommend to look for a moderated (public) server. I was stubborn myself for a long time, wanting to keep playing on Klei official servers because I met a lot of good players there too, but Klei is not fixing this – it has been going on for years now.
