Pproy
So, playing on the PPP expansion, I build a spice grinder only to realise that the only spice I could realisticly use was the brawny blend. I think it would be a good change if different kind of seed could be used for the different blend so the building doesnt become obsolete if we are starting on DLC asteroids. By the same logic, the smoothie machine could use other recipes. 6 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167459-spice-grinder-could-use-some-love/ Share on other sites
gigamoi
Yeah. I find the lack of interesting spice grinder recipe is made even clearer on Ceres where you are likely to want a deep fryer and therefor need to build a grinder for the fryer to be in the kitchen it requires. What spice am I to use there? Ain't no way I'm growing waterweed there, especially if it's just for a measly 120Kg carrying capacity and a bit of tidying speed. If you don't make the spice grinder interesting, at least don't force players into building one. 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167459-spice-grinder-could-use-some-love/#findComment-1830976 Share on other sites

fritozipper
Maybe the corn seed could be ground into corn starch to be used on the dupes shoes to keep them from slipping or to prevent wetness by starching their shirt The. Lura seed would improve dupes attractiveness decor. The dew drop seed could be made into MSG to improve food taste but cause sleepiness. Seakomb seed help prevent sickness, Alveo seed for reduction of oxygen use, Bonbon seed warm up dupe, Pikeapple seed increase husbandry. plume squash to be used for pincha peppernut in the expresso machine with sucrose to make "PlumeKin spice latte" makes it twice as good! cyberwarlord
Tonic root? Gas grass? I wish you could asign spices to a table. Have buffs for different dining areas or customize ever dupes meal plan with privet tables. Could be interesting if it made something for critters as well. Fish flakes? It complains about not being in a kitchen, but it works just fine. I am like 800 cyles into Ceres now and have not built a spice grinder yet. The only thing I have ever found them useful for was the freshener spice. I like how they have added alternate recipes for some things, but yea, they could use some more. I have almost 1000 seeds from the oxylite plants now and nothing to do with them. Maybe a new spice that reduces the oxygen dupes consume would be cool. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167459-spice-grinder-could-use-some-love/#findComment-1831235 Share on other sites

Pproy
Some ideas to impove the spice grinder: -Changing so any seeds can be used for the differents recipes: While I can undestand the appeal of encouraging different plants, it does lead to limited choice depending on the starting map. Especially if it is one of the DLC map. -Conveyer rail input and outpout for the spice grinder: Cooking food for the colony is already a full time job. Making the process automatic would help lessen the work load. - Possibility of spicing the food multiple time (maybe 3 times?): Being able to stack spice grinder buff could lead to interesting combination of stat buffs, where certain combination of spice would be used for specific dupes. -Moral bonus on top of stat buff: I mean, spiced food taste better, so a small moral buff does fell like it would make sense. -More recipes of course. Shinkarr
Freshner spice is immensely useful for space food if you don't have access to spoil-free options. All other spices are near useless. Also feels like all crafting stations lack diversity and selection unfortunately. Well, Except kitchen cooking and metal refiner. Charletrom
A +quality spice would be a game changer, would need careful balance. Spices that add existing food effects (eg soul food) might make sense too 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167459-spice-grinder-could-use-some-love/#findComment-1837017 Share on other sites

I'm playing on Metallic Swampy Moonlet Cluster. Frozen Forest is my teleport asteroid. I have steel but no plastic. Also I have renewable salt (chlorine geyser + dasha saltvine) and some mealwood seeds. Farming Dasha Saltvine is something I'm doing anyway. So for me the only additional production setup for freshener spice is just plant 8-9 mealwood. But in return rocket food will never spoil when it's in the the refrigerator (and in carbon dioxide just in case). This is the only case known to me when freshner spice is really useful. Hope this is a good example. Late game using spices is just a way to reduce dupe idleness.
