Lunar Hail only lasts around 90 seconds, and the glass buildup across the world disappears in mere minutes. If it's not going to be lethal, I think it would be nice if it lasted far longer, and the glass that builds up on structures and plants stayed for a day or more. In its previous state, you could often get half a stack or more of charged glass in the time it was hailing, along with WOBOT helping you pick up more from the ground, but now I had trouble even getting just 9 charged glass before all the buildup disappeared into thin air.

I’m honestly impressed the glass doesn’t stay around for very long. I was expecting a day or two myself.

I didn’t have much issue getting a bit of glass from my recent hail, though. While brief, the amount of shards I got was ~20 or so, and that was just from my area almost devoid of structures apart from things like lightning rods while being distracted getting the lunar crow. I’m sure in an area with more densely populated structures/plants you could easily hit over ~80+ before it dissipates in it’s current state (not saying I think it’s ideal, but I do think netting an okay amount of shards is possible once you know what to look out for)

make glassed structures stop working like SW floods

I don’t think this would be a good idea. It works in SW because it’s a seasonal gimmick that has a variety of counters (sandbags, manmade flooring, etc.). By comparison, hail impacts every structure on the map when it happens, and it occurs year round.

How many of them were infused? On my most recent hail in a forest I got ~40 shards, but only ~9 infused ones. In the past, I could simply focus exclusively on the infused ones that fall around me.

For that to work, we'd need far more methods to protect those structures from hail, right now it's ONLY the umbralla and above average trees... which puts us back to right where we were before the update, of having to figure out ways to implement shelter from hail.

That just seems like an annoyance? It's not like SW flooding where you're screwed if the floodwater reaches your structures. You can just mine it...

Ah, in that case I only got ~5-6. I’m not sure if that was bad RNG or not, but given your experience it does seem like the drop rate of charged shards is pretty poor. I do feel apart from increasing the time the piles stick around the chance for charged shards could be raised, since charged shards “spoil” into base ones anyway.

oh i was wondering how long it stayed on surfaces, thanks!

How are you going to prevent this then? We have sandbags, manmade flooring in SW, what do we have in DST?

you just mine it or it disappears on its own no?

Just got a new post update lunar hail, and harvesting the shards seemed much more generous. I came up after the hail ended and still had ~4 minutes to go around harvesting shards from various areas before the hail expired. Not sure how long it is now, but it feels much more reasonable to collect the hail. You do still end up with a lot of excess shards compared to the charged ones, though.
