What happened to rocket telescopes?

Didn't the basic telescope used to only be 2x2 and you could fit it in a basic nosecone rocket to explore space?  It seems that it is now 3x3.  How do you send out an exploration rocket now?

It was alway 3x3 and still can fit in basic nose cone. But we always use enclosed telescope because its discover range is larger than basic telescope.

It's easy to unlock the full size Spacefarer. Shove an Enclosed Telescope in it and enjoy the +1 range. In fact the basic telescope is largely pointless unless you have a particularly strong aversion to setting up material science before going to space.

I could have sworn it was 2x2 and had to be shoved up against the window in the basic nosecone to work, but I guess now it works anywhere.  The spacefarer adds more height and burden, slowing the rocket.  Still, I suppose it could be worth the +1 range.

just melt the basic nose cone and you have best of both world. With new "relocate here" action, you can just make loop metal refinery with liquid uranium, then relocate them inside rocket to melt things they touches, include diamond windows.
