qwp18 Posted July 24, 2025 Share Posted July 24, 2025 (edited) Controller changes over the years have been great and I appreciate it a TON, but I think there's still room for an even smoother and more intuitive experience to give to the players! So here's feedback and suggestions I have to combat moments which clashed with gameplay 1. The mount action is always overridden by telepoofing This is often frustrating as walking canes are an item the player will be using 24/7, even if they own a mount; and since the lazy explorer is a direct upgrade to the walking cane, players will usually want to just use it in place of the walking cane like Intended, but end up telepoofing and wasting durability when trying to use a mount due to muscle memory, or just switch the held item. And while switching the held item IS a solution, it breaks the flow of gameplay and breaks immersion to have to do this mini activity each time you want to get of your mount. My friend did suggest to just deconstruction staff the lazy explorer and use the walking cane instead, and it does work as a sultion, it shouldn't really be a thing in the first place 2. feeding mounts on top of them doesn't work if ANY object is highlighted The left dpad button prompt to "feed" the currently mounted creature disappears and is unable to be used if ANY object is currently highlighted in the world, whether there's a tree, wall, hound, flint... as long as something is able to be inspected or interacted with, then your mount cannot be fed. I'm assuming this is due to how certain items can be quick slotted into other things with the use of left dpad, and the game checks of that's an option for any inspect but it ends up overriding "feed"...? The current "solve around" is that, for some reason, the prompt DOES appear if you're actively moving, but, you cannot feed the beef wile it's moving. So you need to quickly use the feed prompt a few frames after the mount is no longer moving, but his is still bad due to it only letting you feed the mount once before needing to redo the set up, and mounts are usually fed a few times in a burst rather than one at a time 3. Canisters are just horrible and pause any gameplay situation dead in its tracks Canisters suffer so. SO badly from seemingly? not being able to quick take and quick insert items into them, it sometimes???? Works but it is extremely inconsistent and very rare, It might be the same issue as feeding mounts? But being forced to go into the enlarged inventory mode is really bad, admittedly I am biased against it but I do think it is generally a last resort and should be reduced to minimum as much as it can. The linear traversal of dragging items back and forth several times through the inventory and just having to go allll the way to the left and allll the way to the right for anything is really frustrating, paired with not being able to move, it haults any gameplay and situation dead right in its tracks. It's already annoying on the polar bearger bin but it's especially egregious because of that on wortox's soul jars, it makes them extremely tedious and clunky to use. If you can't quickly slot the souls in, while trying to get them not to spill out, or you can't quickly take the souls to use them, it damages the items usability a LOT! You need to: enlarge your inventory, go through every inventory slot until you reach a soul jar, open It, go up to the slot of the soul jar, select the souls, and then manually put them back into a desirable slot and it is dreadful. Genuinely, polar bearger bin and soul jar are incredible features but this weighs them down so hard, it's really sad. 4. The celestial jewels cannot be quick slotted or quick swapped into and from the inventory or crown This is self explanatory, you are forced to use the enlarged inventory to put it in, and to take it out you need to either drop it on the ground and pick it back up, forcing it to the leftmost slot, or use the enlarged inventory, this one is in comparison a lot more minor to the previous issues, but it still adds up over time as a silly little speedbump That's all I have right now off the top of my head, but I will probably update this or add more in the replies, feel free to drop your own feedback or criticism in a constructive manner ❤️ Edited July 24, 2025 by qwp18 Typo 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167191-controller-inventory-navigation-qol-feedback-and-glitches/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
