What kind of nonsense comparison is that? The irony... Let me rephrase what i mean so that it might be more understandable. Skins are optional cosmetics. If someone dislikes bright/goofy ones, they are free to not use them. and if they are concerned about other players using them in their games, they can always choose to not engage with servers and environments that prefere that type of style. I also prefer that Klei prioritizes more dark/gritty skins for fans of the original art style , but removing the currently existing silly options is just a meaningless step backward for content which hurts no one (unless you insist on comparing bright skins to racism). What i believe your concern is (and correct me if im wrong), is the fact that the developers adding official silly skins undermines the game’s atmosphere, and that it’s not the same as players being goofy, Klei endorsing it makes the world itself feel less coherent. The title Together means we share a consistent tone, not do whatever. and with that sentiment i agree, but the truth is, as a player, there is not much you can do other than support what you like in the game and ignore what you dislike. If many share your view on the current skins, Klei may shift direction based on popular demand. However, being angry and blaming the devs for their creative choices will only make them less receptive to your feedback , since they seem to be already set on making the game content more appealing to a broader audience. The Klei forums have already taken a turn for worse and people are much less tolerant to opposing opinions, and klei devs would most probably prefer to prune the rowdy minority section of their audience rather than the other way around. What I said is literally the exact same thing as what you said, the only difference is now instead of the "bad thing" being something you like and don't think is bad, the "bad thing" is now something you think is bad (so it's completely different because everyone should only listen to you and cater to you). You're right that it's nonsense, because what you said is nonsense. If you don't understand the concern people have because you personally don't dislike the skins, just add the word "racist" in your own defense of the skins so that you'll now dislike the skins so you can see why "if you don't like it don't use it" makes no sense. Quote Racist skins are optional cosmetics. If someone dislikes offensive ones, they are free to not use them. and if they are concerned about other players using them in their games, they can always choose to not engage with servers and environments that prefere that type of style. Complete non-argument. If the skins are bad they are bad, the fact that you can choose to just not play the game at all so you don't see the skins is not a defense of the skins. Just be honest and say you don't care if the game is straying from its origins and becoming Fortnite instead of disingenuously acting like you can control what other people wear in a multiplayer game. Mike23Ua
This entire thread is biased. I would know, because I exclusively buy creepy looking, gothic-like skins.. and in that case: The game actually becomes more creepy looking. What pisses me off however (and Klei should’ve prioritized options for a long time ago) is when any random Joe can join your world and smack something with a CleanSweeper to reskin it. If I am the host of the world, a simple world Gen or pause menu toggle to allow/disallow this would be lovely. And just to provide a few examples: Chester, Broodling, Resurrection Stone, Gravestones, Tables & Chairs, even the Critters Den itself can have a more “creepy” skin then the Default one applied. Just be honest and say you don't care if the game is straying from its origins and becoming Fortnite instead of disingenuously acting like you can control what other people wear in a multiplayer game. Comparing bright colors in a video game to racism is utterly ridiculous and trivializes actual harmful content. That analogy is dead on arrival and proves nothing except your willingness to escalate into absurdity to 'win' the point. My position remains consistent, I prefer the old style too. I've said that multiple times. My argument isn't about liking the bright skins, it's about managing preferences in a live service multiplayer game. There's a vast gulf between aesthetic choices I find unappealing (like bright moon skins) and content that is objectively harmful or hateful (like racism). Equating them is disingenuous. You think the skins are bad for the game's identity. Fine, that's your opinion. Many others disagree. Klei clearly does so. Insisting your subjective taste is the objective measure of what is 'bad' for the game is exactly the problem. Bad in this context isn't a universal truth like racism being bad; it's entirely about stylistic preference. and yet ironically , you somehow managed to make this about MY selfish preferece and ignore your own subjectivity in this matter. You dismiss 'ignore it' as a solution, but for purely cosmetic, non harmful elements like this, it is a valid option within the game systems. Demanding Klei remove content others enjoy simply because you dislike the aesthetic, and equating that dislike to something universally abhorrent, isn't a reasonable position. It's entitlement masked as artistic purity. We both want more grim, vintage skins. We disagree fundamentally on how to achieve that and on the validity of the existing bright ones. Given you've resorted to hyperbolic comparisons and personal accusations, it seems productive discussion is over. I'll continue supporting the content I like and providing feedback constructively towards what i dont like without resorting to such methods. You can keep complaining into the forums (and funnily, at other users rather than the devs) about Fortnite and racism if it makes you feel better. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167152-the-release-of-too-many-skins-can-ruin-the-dark-feel-of-dont-starve/page/2/#findComment-1829010 Share on other sites
Hungry French
Go to the DS and see how gloomy and creepy it is around. And then to DST, where Dark Forest is no longer Dark. This is the price of switching to DST. More content means less atmosphere and balance. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167152-the-release-of-too-many-skins-can-ruin-the-dark-feel-of-dont-starve/page/2/#findComment-1829197 Share on other sites
