Context: After defeating the Celestial Scion once, there will be a new type of Gestalt that can appear while players are enlightened. There can be 1 at max (or 4 while wearing a fully jeweled Enlightened Crown !)

These guys are supposedly greater-Greater Gestalt but have a few new behaviors going for themselves, aside of having various attacks dealing 180 raw damage, they are also hostile by nature if players have sufficient sanity (33% >). They do not need players to wear shadow items to engage in combat, but can be avoided by wearing Brightshade Husks, Helm and of course the crown.

They also drop 1 Pure Brilliance, or sometimes 2 if you're lucky. So that's a new way to get these without even requiring a rift portal to be open !

I like this new encounter, it's really no joke and even its loot now is a welcome bonus for a material that isn't always fun to acquire.

But I have a strange request :

As the tittle suggests, I think I would really like it if the Inimical Gestalts had a low chance for dropping Enlightened Shards. 5, 10, 15 percent ? I don't really know but why do I want this ? :concern:

Simply put I'm increasingly getting tired of the Celestial Champion (optional) grind that has been the only way to acquire the shards, it is a good boss, and an essential of the lunar questline progression I will still always appreciate doing the first time.

Yes 'optional' because I could just not do it again and again... but I build a lot in DST and my builds beg for lights. And yours do to, if you weren't listening to them, I assure you adding some colored lights around your creations adds a lot to them. But yeah... doing a champion to get 6 shards only lets you put perma light on a few more lamps, and that's if you don't want to make more Elastispacer ot the W.A.R.B.I.S. pieces first...

I've long celebrated the mark of beating way over 100 CC and if I'm being honest I feel like these shards ask me to choose between having very little fun, or give up on some ambitious builds I have.

So that's why after the addition of this cool new creature, and of being so far into in the game, because, don't forget... this would only be a thing post W.A.R.B.O.T. and Scion, I really think these new bosses, while cool, don't have much of a loot to offer, yeah ? But having a possibility for shards without doing CC after them would be the best reward to date I'd say, especially if the upgraded crown gives us more chance to encounter them :flustered:

At any rate...

I've explain the issue: why I want to acquire more shards, from fresh new ways that would waste me less time being annoyed doing something I don't like all that much anymore. I really need this so while I'm simply asking, and hoping each and everyone of you will get to enjoy building more ambitiously, and not be tired by it...

I'll also make it a thing. Little shameless plug but I will update very soon (when Hostile Takeover releases) my mod Celestial Tools to make this a feature for as long its needed with configurable drop chances. This is a mod I've kept on updating with the main focus of making lunar content more engaging, especially Moonglass which has little going for it yet many interesting ways to gather. Everything in it can be turned off or configured it you only wish for the shard drop when it's here (but anyway I think you'll enjoy most of the rest too)...

So I'd say this is in line with what that mod always aimed to do :encouragement: Hope it helps !

just make CC farm with winona catapults. Plenty of guides for it on youtube. Making shards drop from new gestalts would make the CC fight just waste of time and players would ignore it completely

I need nobody's guide but that's just boring as hell. And yeah that's the point I think a waste of time isn't what I want...

That's very much what it is so I don't look forward my next world to grind for hours CC just to build lights. This shouldn't be behind this boss anymore.

Thats kinda point of this game where you can farm bosses multiple times. The only exception is Queen Womant  in Hamlet dlc where you  need to create the whole new world to make her respawn. I think making celestial champion just for a single fight to get the rifts and crown is meh and i really like to fight him the only part i would change is how you can obtain the moonstorm static since farming it is pain in the a$$

some players (such as i) do not enjoy farming bosses because it kinda just completely defeats the point of the boss

if you have to resort to farming a boss for a specific item then maybe tweaks to the item's sources is needed

Inimical Gestalts possess exceptionally high combat power and spawn directly around players. Their 120% Pure Brilliance drop rate seems mismatched with their 2000 HP and 165+15 attack power. In comparison, Fused Shadelings only have 1250 HP and 40+10 attack power yet drop 2-4 Pure Horrors, and they merely cluster around rifts without randomly spawning near players.

I'd much rather mine near rifts than fight Inimical Gestalts. Not only do I hope they could drop Enlightened Shards as a new acquisition method (with Crown remaining CC's exclusive drop), but I also wish they'd stop appearing around me and being annoyed by AoE. They could instead be placed near rifts as obstacles for mining Ryftstal—after all, mining Ryftstal under Grazer interference is far easier, as their sluggish movements hardly deter players.

A powerful enemy like Inimical Gestalts, paired with Enlightened Shard drops, would be an excellent design. Players could either evade them to steal Pure Brilliance or defeat them to obtain Enlightened Shards and mine Ryftstal more safely. Of course, their spawn rate and maximum numbers should also be limited. Fighting 1-2 is reasonable, but four aggro-linked Inimical Gestalts is excessive—their actual combat difficulty might even surpass that of an Armored Bearger.
