I haven't had time to sit and play DST on Switch 2. However, I loaded up a world with a friend (that also has NS2) that we usually struggle with at base.

We need to test it with 3 or 4 people, and with split screen active since those tax the system more.

Normally the base takes several moments to load everything in on Switch 1. People being in different places, around bees, or in caves can also cause struggling. Obviously Crab King sucks balls on Switch. We'll test this more later.

Our base did load instantly as far as we could tell, no slow down. Starting the game application feels smoother and faster. Exiting the app didn't cause an error. And I didn't notice any immediate frame drops (Crim bug) but I only played 10mins. We'll also pay attention to the Happy Bug (stuck in place running back and forth)

Ill post more here later.

Crab King ran perfectly with 2 people.

Didn't get the running in place bug or the game freezing bug after 2 or 3 hours of play.

Load into/out of caves faster than Switch 1 players.

Hail didn't cause slowdown while it did for a NS1 player.

Rollbacks seem faster, with 1 on surface 1 in caves.

Did all of this while using game chat, mic, and screen share. Everything was very smooth

We need an update to allow for joycon mouse controls.

After playing on PC I don't think mouse controls would be that important. If they just fixed targeting issues that would be enough.

Adjusting the targeting would help everyone, adding mouse controls would only help the smallest portion of players that are also willing to use mouse controls. I'd maybe use it, I don't think most switch users would.

Very nice! Is the player limit still 4? I really hope the NS2 has the power to finally let Switch players megabase without issue.

The limit will always be four unless they change it.

People using a NS2 will have a smoother experience.

On NS1, my old world has a base that would cause all of us slowdown and lag spikes when we had 3 or 4 people, especially in different areas.

While on NS2, neither my friend nor I had issue, but the 3rd player using NS1 had all the slowdown/lag issues.

So while a NS2 player will be able to make more elaborate bases and not bottleneck at places we'd previously bottleneck at, anyone with a NS1 joining the world is still going to experience the same issues.

Yes but…. Klei isn’t listening when we try to bring up critical issues with the newer consoles (PS5, Series X/S, Switch 2) being able to run DST and still play with the old consoles. (PS4, Xbox One, Switch 1)

People on the newer consoles load significantly faster than people still on last Gen hardware, what this means is that if someone on a old Gen console is hosting a world and they perform a rollback, players on the newer consoles will load back in a full minute and 30 seconds before the actual worlds host will.

This means that a host can roll their world back, but because others have already loaded in the game saves a new restore point before the host can even load back in.

to solve this I’ve had to become the “host” when playing with my friends who were still on Xbox One.

Theres a Reason GTA V for Xbox 360 isn’t compatible with GTA V on Xbox One or GTA V on X/S isn’t Compatible with One.

But personally I’m a little bit upset that as of Today MINECRAFT has been updated to a Series X/S game, but DS & DST are still not upgraded. :(

That was already and issue, but I understand your point, that its potentially a bigger issue now.

They should just make it so that game pauses until host loads and unpauses. No reason to split the already small ecosystem.

It's always been an issue that, as host, rolling back can screw your world over. I crashed during Crab King and the rollback always caused my boat to catch fire from a star. I had to have a friend join and manage the boat while I loaded in.

Roll back should just force a pause until resumed by host. I'll make a request now.
