Please support the ping function too

There's a lot of talk about introducing the mod function into vanilla. Let me tell you something.
Communication is important in most multi-games. Therefore, in these famous multi-games, support ping function, but there is no such thing in "Don't starve Together" yet. I hope you can support ping function with vanilla, not in mod.
Please make a neat, more intuitive form of ping without bugs or lags. It's a necessary feature.

I think that's what the flares are supposed to be for. But the main issue with them is they're very short, and the player needs to be at the spot already. And also if anyone misses it, gotta make a whole new one and set it off.

I'd rather have built in "Link/announce item/stat" to chat than a ping on map.

Basically what does the "Status Announcements" mod does.
It can get very confusing, when ton of people start telling how much they have of what and make you figure out if we got enough or not.

Hmm we already have many ways to communicate locations , even if people forget that moon lenses, flares or compass exist

moon lenses as early navigation are kinda bad cuz you need to waste a gem and moonrocks for it, and only the orange/purple lens is used for crafting. if the player joined late into the world its good but outside of that they should already have the map figured out/another person can just make a map for them

in established pub worlds where strangers pop in it has been really useful

Compass, moon lens, and flare aren't very effective when it comes to pointing to a specific location on the map. The compass or flare only shows my current position, and the moon lens doesn't really help with indicating the exact direction I want to go in real time. For example, if my friend asks where they should build a pig farm, it would be really convenient if I could just use ping function to say, "I’d like you to build it here."

I feel like there are ways to communicate location of things on the map, but they are all significantly worse than the mod that lets you ping anywhere for free. I'd rather they make the stuff we currently have (moonlenses, flares, compasses, etc.) more accessible.

Maybe they let you mark or ping your own map only? That way, if someone uses a flare or also has a compass, you can make note of it even though it is temporary.
