I know it's only 1-2 weeks until we see it, but what do you think klei cooks up for this boss ending?
Would be really cool to have, after (presumably) 4-stage bossfight, whole in-game cutscene, lore dump or something of that sort.
Quite a long way of getting to this boss and it's gonna be very anticlimactic if it plops down on the ground, Wagstaff then appear for 3 seconds to say "Eureka! I'm smart, you dumb!" to then disappear.

Depends on if this is genuinely the final lunar boss that there will be. From what they say, it seems like it will (hopefully) be, but they also said that the conclusion would be in September iirc so I'm not sure.

Assuming that this is the final lunar boss and that September will just add some small things to do that fully complete the arc, then I expect this to be kinda anticlimactic, while the September update has the full in-game cutscene, lore dump, and other stuff (like Wagstaff being pulled into the Constant, please Klei)

Imma be so pissed if the payoff for ruining my decorations and base on Pearl's island is a 3 second interaction like that.

Before September, they meant that they would release finale update of the shadow rifts to close the arch, so work on this update will continue for another month.

I hope the game could add an item that allows players to choose whether to open the Rifts, since they're just the conclusion of the combat storyline, while the save file often continues beyond that.

The original Don’t Starve Adventure Mode already had a solid ending 12 years ago, so I think we can expect good stuffs. I hope they’ll give the new ending 12 times more content than the old one.

Wagstaff is pulled into Constant and becomes a playable character. Influenced by his contact with the survivalists and his experiences living in the world of Constant as himself, rather than as a hologram like before, he changes into a better person and devises a plan together with the others to help free Charlie from the shadow side. When they succeed, the queen of this game, Wanda (she’s my main, so she has to play a key role), appears. As a person deeply connected to time and space, she senses anomalies  fragments of alternate realities begin to overlap. All the survivalists jump through time to a new location during the reign of an ancient civilization, which will be the first canonical DLC for Don't Starve Together and will allow players to play as the freed Charlie ❤️

Nahhh, for what i understood from past statments, this arc was about to setting up wagstaff and charlie taking control over the moon and the shadows respectevly, with the next arc probably being all centered about their confrontation

I hope that there will be a choice in the endgame between shadow and lunar and the whole world will change depending on your choice, it would also empower the characters with the same affinity and give them more abilities or smth.
or maybe the neutral choice that will reset the worlds back to normal (pre-rift world) or harmony (both shadow and lunar stuff around the world with no fighting)
-it would bring new ways to decorate the world with and could also act as a world filters.

playable charlie + wagstaff would be a great but implementing that into a game would be maybe difficult, maybe they could be accesed like wonkey
example: wagstaff - your character goes through a portal made by wagstaff and he himself will enter or his hologram that you would be able to control.
charlie - you enter the shadow portal and turn into a shadow / charlie

This is just my idea of the endgame and would like to see what Klei has planned for us.

I imagine if they ever implemented this, it would be characters unlocked by beating their respective side's arc, either by the account (I beat it in a solo world, and can now play as the character in any world) or by the world (I beat it in a solo world, and I can now use the portal to swap to the character using the portal in that world).

Of course if it was the second option was implemented, I'd hope for a world gen setting to let you play as them from the beginning. My girlfriend and I want to do a Wagstaff Charlie world if that ever becomes possible lol

My "lore" bet is that (hopefully) Charlie will either appear and tell Wagstaff to **** off because "hes getting too close to making that portal work", or she will do something to stop his plans, kind of being the perfect excuse to see what she's been up to and for harder content on the cave rifts.

I don't think this is "THE final lunar update" but its pretty close. I think Klei will move on with lunar for now, then continue shadow rifts, and at last make an update for their finals.

Also, in lore, our survivors probably spent entire weeks fighting the surface rifts, even more time if they were also helping Wagstaff. Charlie should have spent her own time doing her machinations too, no? I hope the survivors get a surprise when they go back to caves

My head lore would be for the surface to have fragments of the moon fall and make holes in the mainland.

These holes will expose caves (and maybe a way to rappel down) leaving light able to hit spots in caves warding off shadow creatures that get near the light kinda like the archive does already.

Of course upsetting Charlie and in response maybe her big end game world change would be absolute full day darkness every so often.

To be honest, I think Klei might be about to add in what I was kinda hoping for. I think when the lunar stuff is finished, specific world boons and prefabs should have a chance of spawning per season or something. Of course a few goodies from the fight, but I think perhaps the new crown would be enough for me. I'm open to whatever really - It's just nice to see a bit of potential closure on the plot.

Without any irony, an ironic outcome to all of this is that we get the DST version of the living artifact and indeed do become an iron man.

Its obvious whats gonna happen.

Warbot turns into a furnace that we can smelt scrap inside it to make iron. and we just become iron-man and go save the world. Obviously

I really like this idea, it becomes something to enable iron to come to dst - Iron could spawn from post-victory world events perhaps
