Hey Survivors!

The new Beta Merchant is already in the game with useful items, but what if we expanded their trade options without removing what already works? Here’s a simple idea to make them more versatile:

Two Trade Layers: Fixed + Dynamic

  1. Fixed Inventory (Current Beta Trades):

    • Twigs, Flint, Gems (Blue/Red), Gears, Lunar Fragments.

    • Keeps guaranteed access to essential resources for all players.

  2. Dynamic Inventory (Additional):

    • By Season:

      • Autumn:  Birchnuts, Fruit Tree Seeds.

      • Winter:  Beefalo Wool, Ice.

      • Spring:  Honey, Linen.

      • Summer:  Nitre, Cactus Flesh.

      • Of course, we also sell packages of seeds suitable for each season.

    • By Moon Phase:

      • Full Moon: Moon Island Butterflies, Lunar Flower Petals.

      • New Moon:  Nightmare Fuel, Dark Spikes.

🐄 Location: A Friend to Beefalo Herds!

  • Placing them near Beefalo herds would create a strategic resource hub while adding a fun risk (imagine trading while dodging an angry stampede!).

Would be great :) I'd also like some general new trades to come and go based on world progression to keep it interesting. What he offers is nice early but given his limited stocks I'm sure he will be much less desirable later. I'd like that he sells some rare equipment after a while so I'm tempted to look out for him.

I mentioned towards another user that it would be awesome if at night he was sleeping together with the beefalos, and if you accidently chose the "wrong" sleeping beefalo (perfectly disguised trading guy) for getting beefalo wool you'd not get wool but instead the surprise of having the whole heard wake up and run after you trying to attack x)

I like this idea, I am just a little confused about the translation.
Lunar Fragments = Moon Glass?
Fruit Tree Seeds = Pinecone?
Linen = Silk?
Dark Spikes = Living Logs?

yes, but these are just suggestions that I used to illustrate the idea, but it could be other things.

I did not mean to say to replace them with something else. I have a problem with your post translation: The items mentioned are not in the game when translated to english, so we don't know exactly what items you are talking about.

In my previous post I made educated guesses about what items you probably were trying to mention, could you confirm those are indeed the items or correct me if I got one of them wrong?

Sorry for the inconvenience; my native language is not English. As per the order you requested:

All great ideas! Maybe another one could be something like a “loyalty” mechanic where the more you buy the more stock he has and the better items provided? Kinda similar to pearls trade options except it would come with the buying of more items rather than quests. By the end maybe an item like a trader bell could be sold which would call him to the person who rings it, along with an ornament for winters feast.

This combined with the stock changing with game progression would give more incentive to trade.
