Over 3,200 Hours. 24,000 Days. Still Broken

Recommended Posts

I love Don’t Starve Together. I respect everything Klei has built. But after thousands of hours and a full migration to PS5, my world is still plagued by the same old bugs from the PS4 version — and console support feels completely abandoned.

I’m not just frustrated — I’m exhausted.

Do I give up on a world I’ve built for years? Or start over and lose 3,200+ hours of progress?

Current issues that remain unresolved:

Constant crashes — even on PS5. Why is this still happening on next-gen hardware?

Ruins don’t regenerate properly after killing the Ancient Fuelweaver. Ancient statues are gone. Only chests and enemies return.

Charlie doesn’t rebuild my Ancient Gateway. Is my world permanently broken now?

Console players deserve better. We’re part of the community too.

Can you help me get the developers' attention?

@Klei — is anyone listening?

Hia .

You know the thing about long term worlds is You over build them and we are kinda asking for it . Dst was never meant for Megabasing .

As to Your points You got to be more specific so maybe someone can help .

Crashes. When and where ?

In my world i cant even exit the server on the surface because im getting an error .

I always log out in the caves .

Ruins regen . Hmm thats a tough one and it has to be specific to Your world because thats a first for me .

Something blocking statues spawners ? One or many ? Clean the ruins completely ? (Try the same trick with Afw rollback i mentioned below ? )

Moved ( pushed ) the clockworks and one of them is blocking the statues spawner and it messes with them all ?

Just brainstorming .

Charlie and the portal . Again specifics .

No beckoning hand after the fight ? There is but no Charlie ? Rift opened ?

If its the hand and Charlie i had something similar happen and what I did was to start the Afw fight midd day and then when morning came and it saved i waited a bit and rolled back . Finished the fight and the hand and Charlie appeared and fixed the portal . Before that i had the hand and the rift opened but Charlie was a no show .

My world was created right after the game was released for consoles. And after mining the ancient statues for the first time, they never came back. Enemies respawn and chests get refilled, but the ruins remain empty, without any structures—understand? (see the images I posted)

Believe me, despite the 24,000 in-game days, I don't have that many structures. I always knew the PS4 couldn’t handle much. But do the crashes still happen on PlayStation 5? My friends, who have much larger worlds with more buildings, can play normally and are also surprised by the bugs I experience.

I believe all of this is due to the age of the world—maybe the map was created with limited memory at the time, and Klei didn’t have many plans for the game back then.

Well i know it wont help but that was an indicator that the world was bugged so You have to live with it mate .

As to crashes You are experiencing it looks like its Your world again as worlds created later ( friends You Mentioned ) are doing fine if i understand correctly .

Im afraid theres no real solution for You .

Like You said at the end its the age of the world .

Sorry to say it but i dont see how Klei or anyone can fix Your world .

Maybe its time to retire it .

I've seen times where developers have asked to see the save files for a world experiencing issues. I think it'd be a good idea for them to take a look and see if there's some ancient code lingering in older worlds that may be causing it or potentially other future problems. The loss of even a few hundred day world can be painful so a 24,000 day world is like losing a home you've lived in for the last 8 years.

I've got my own long term world I've invested a lot of time in that started years and years ago so it's a potential problem I could see myself having in the future too.

Aye I know it sucks and i hope They'll have a look at it but thats prolly heaps of code and being on Ps is not helping either .

Mine and Yours were created later so the bugs haunting His were ironed out but yea Your fear is mine too .

Reminder to Everyone to save Your long term worlds on a external Usb drive so You have a hard copy !

Specifically Playstation worlds I've seen them go through.

100% this everyone. Every 500 to 1000 days is about what I do. Alternating two flash drives and on the PS save cloud.
