The new bug net.

Recommended Posts

Klei, thank you so much for this addition, you guys killed 2 birds with one stone. Getting moon moths for new trees was getting very inefficient with regular bug nets, and there was no real useful use for collected dust until now.

The thulecite fragment method from dust moths is still extremely slow, and wields at maximum 1 thulecite per 4 minutes. If you guys can consider a faster trading method I would love it since I don't really enjoy resetting the ruins myself.

So this is basically just an appreciation post to show how this feature impacted the game. Thanks!

I don't feel like dust moths exist anything for but for the bugnet and lore purpose than anything. Even if they do make faster thule ruins basically provide 30x more via reset plus other goodies. I would love to see dust moths act like slow little cave roombas tho, collecting fallen debri and storing into chests, especially if they'd be craftable.

I would like if we could have something act as a Krampus that doesn't despawn to clean up some of the biomes. I don't always care about saving resources when mega basing, but a hands free method to keep things clean would be huge

WOBOT is my fictional roomba best friend, but god is he loud and obnoxious.

Just like a Real Roomba!

I personally drowned out the noise it makes after awhile, apart from the noticeable squeak SFX it does after it reaches low durability. I do admittedly have my storage sections away from the main parts of my base.

Stuff like this does make me wish DST had better sound customization when it came to what sounds you do/don't want, like MC does. I still have a mod specifically to remove a few particularly bothering ambience/structure sounds...

Like I said, I'm asking for a better implemented alternative, as the moths currently are too slow. No I'm also not asking for faster moths themselves since I can see where they're slow and steady as intended, but as I mentioned

this wouldn't bother no one. I really don't enjoy resetting the ruins because it feels like a cheap way to get everything back, and I prefer a more concise and cohesive alternative. I don't feel like I'm getting into any state of progress if the monkey huts I burned down in the ancient villages suddenly reappeared because I faced the shadow king. I know I can obtain currently every single gem back, as well as the thulecite through moths, but they're quite frankly not very much looked at features, and they don't look like the right way to do it.

Now, I would also like to mention something, boss respawning doesn't make any sense. It might make sense in a gameplay perspective, but surely there might be a better alternative to this. It's feels weird that the giant werepig suddenly got back to the caves and got locked in again. There should be a better alternative that makes sense with lore and gameplay at the same time.

They did a pretty great job in recent years. Flies from manure, birds locked in a cage and glommer now all have lower sounds, and they only play when very near them. As for Wobot, I also just completely ignore his sounds, they just come and go like ambience, but they're not annoying in any way.

Also in regards to more customization, I definitely remember Klei themselves saying in a beta livestream that they do not want the game to turn into a fully automated game, as this is not their intention. So we might not see many future features related to wobot and dust moths clearing the caves, also because Winona's skill tree is already out, and she would be the very one character to embrace this automation fantasy if one would be thought of.
