what do you want for WX's skilltree?

I do want him to have a mech suit ngl. Or affinity to build his own clockwork army and control it because he is all about that robot more than machine fantasy and likely would want to conquer the world via clockworks or through sheer mechanization over that metallic body.

Honestly I don't really want anything specific from the skill tree, there's definitely gonna be a new mechanic with a bunch of skill dedicated to it, be it some cool items to spend your charge meter on, mech suit etc. And I'm personally just gonna wait and see for that part since I can't imagine Klei really messing it up. 

 

What I do mostly await for are the tweaks to the current systems WX has. People already voiced their problems in this thread that I mostly share. I just hope all of the needed tweaks to the base systems won't be locked behind a bunch of skills similar to Winona's.

 

The only example that I do think would work perfectly for a skill is the "root" skill of sorts similar to what Wormwood has but instead you get 2 choices: either all of the circuits convert their durability and charge interactions to overtime kind of effects or the usage based one (what wx currently has) with a few improvements. That way you can satisfy both people who like current "set and forget maybe until next season" playstyle and people who would probably like something closer to "in the moment" one. 

 

They could even wrap it cutely like Klei loves to by having skill tree ui look like a robot chest that gets opened the moment you select one of those 2 skills so you can see the rest of them. 

I've given some thought to a specific ability that could be fun, one where it allowed WX to create inanimate copies of himself that he can transfer his consciousness between at the cost of a chunk of sanity through each change. It could also allow for each hollow WX to have their own set of circuit combos and also function as a fast travel so that super acceleration isnt a mainstay. (this also is somewhat lore accurate with how WX is shown to have multiple robot husks in his animated short where he is confronted by wagstaff)

Extra Pin: can plug in 7 pins instead of 6 pins

Recharge: Wx-78 can recharge faster (20% faster)

Recharge 2: Wx-78 can recharge faster (50% faster)

Battery Box: Wx-78 can craft and store charge (can be placed or held in inventory)

Battery Satellite: Wx-78 can plug circuit for AOE effect (requires charge, only 1 can be plugged can't be stacked with other satellites)

Battery Satellite 2: Wx-78 can plug circuit for AOE effect (requires charge, only 2 can be plugged, can't be stacked with other satellites)

 

Jimmy Fly: Jimmy can fly faster (25% faster)

Jimmy Scan: Jimmy can complete the scan faster (25% faster)

Jimmy Analyze: Jimmy gives more bio-data (20% more)

Jimmy Analyze 2: Jimmy gives more bio-data (50% more)

Jimmy Shoot: Jimmy can shoot non-scannable mobs (34 damage every 1 second, one target)

Jimmy Laser: Jimmy can shoot non-scannable mobs (34 damage every 0.5 second, more than 1 target)

 

Gold Circuit: generates 2 random rare rock items every day (1 pins) Gold-Mine Circuit: generates random 7 rare rock items every day (2 pins) - no rocks or flint -

Silver Circuit: 10% action speed (1 pins) Quick-Silver Circuit: 30% action speed (2 pins) - if all the pins are filled you can do actions 2x faster then everybody else -

Bronze Circuit: 10% damage resistance + 5% damage boost (1 pins) Bronze-Bully Circuit: 25% damage resistance + 15% damage boost (2 pins)

Pebble Circuit: generates 3 random rock items every day (1 pins) Pebble'n'Cobble Circuit: generates random 10 rock items every day (2 pins) - no gold or gems -

Vacuum Circuit: Lazy Forger Effect (2 pins) - installing more will add 2 to 3 pick ups at a time, can also vacuum berries and grass -

Compost Circuit: can convert food into rot or spoiled fish morsel (1 pins) Compost Circuit 2: can convert food into poop or guano (1 pins) - adding more pins allows more 1 to 1 conversion, so instead of 1 at a time you can do 7 at a time-

 

Mind-Swap: Wx can craft another bot and swap minds with it (kind of like a teleport but you can't swap items between them, doesn't act like a meat effigy)

Knight: Wx can craft Friendly Knights (stationary)

Bishop: Wx can craft Friendly Bishop (stationary)

Rook: Wx can craft Friendly Rook (stationary)

 

Lunar Circuits: swaps sanity with lunacy + lunacy mobs are more passive (3 pins + can be remove without taking charge)

Shadow Circuits: swaps sanity with insanity + shadows mobs are more passive (3 pins + can be remove without taking charge)

Some kind of device to combine circuits into an overdrive circuit, and you can only use these circuits if you overcharge as Wx-78, and the new way to overcharge with wx-78 is using another new machine to store big amounts of energy using elemental power like lighting, additionallly i would like Wx-78 to have more synergies with Winona's devices. I think maybe you can conect this new energy storage machine inside the generators range to steal energy from the generators and save it inside the storage machine. Idk i just would like something interesting, ngl after all the reworks the robots is my least played character and thats cause he is boring to use.

This sounds really interesting! imagine now the robot is just energy using the void to transfer his conscience beteween a legion of machines! this idea sound insanely good my friend! hope klei make this one.

it could even be a good way to fast travel so i guess the new robot should be really expensive.

and also a cooldown for this skill to not be abused to be inmortal.

These are the kind of skill perks that I hate in skill trees

In terms of expanding on WX's circuit mechanics, I'd vastly prefer skills that making their current circuits more interesting, rather then add new ones.

In terms of spitballing ideas for fun, along those lines id like to see skills that unlock circuit 'synergies' where combo-ing two or more circuits grants unique boosts/modifications to what those circuits do. Preferably the strongest most interesting synergies would need a lesser used circuits to activate. For example a combo between a health boosting circuit and the sanity regen one, could offer some health regeneration that scales with the amount of health circuits plugged in. This could be made relatively strong due to the opportunity cost of not having more "stand alone" strong circuits plugged in like nightvision or speed.

The recoil circuit could be made stronger by the thermal ones, offering it fire/ice effects on top of electricity, stuff like that.

These are just hypotheticals of course, but anything to make WX's "loadouts" more varied and interesting would be an improvement in my book.

 

Mmm, maybe a skill that gives you a secondary configuration of circuits you can hot swap to at the cost of one bar of your gauge? Like if you could plug circuits on the other side of the charge gauge, but only one side can be active at a time and you tie a cost to switching sets of circuits so you can't just have access to both whenever you want?
