My "other" is that I really love how big of a deal the skill tree can make Woby for you. No longer is she just Beefalo From Wish! She is now a viable alternative that helps you mine, chop, gather resources, carry things, send items to your friend, and produce jerky on the go.

without the patch note that logs the numerical and detailed changes, i couldn't exactly say what's unsatisfactory about the tree (i voted 'Very Satisfied' btw), but here are the lingering problems that weren't addressed in the latest beta build before the live launch,

- lunar-alignment rounds being undertuned compared to shadow-aligned variant. shadow has 03 rounds from 03 different materials, 02 of which can be gathered pre-rift. lunar has 02 rounds, and are strictly post-rift. lunar does not have a slingshot-related upgrade like the void grip (shadow), and does not have a synergy like with the shadow armor (void cowl)

- shockscrap round and gunpowder round being underpowered/too expensive compared to what they can do. shockscrap was given a better stun rate, but it's still locked behind a stagger timer instead of stagger-per-hit, so you don't really get much value from it. gunpowder implicit crit mechanic is also kind of time-gated, you can only crit after a certain amount of time/countdown, so the faster you shoot, the more non-crit bullet you'll have, leading to more waste.

- ammo pouch is a bit clunky to use, and not exactly combat practical

- walter's advanced slingshot band skill is a skip 80% of the time. the upgrade to cat band (advanced) from pig band (basic) is too little, so small in fact, that it's just better to use a pig band instead of wasting a skill point that could be used for something much better. advanced slingband does open up the  possessed cat band. but the way to get it is a bit convoluted and not recorded, many players might not even discover it. so you're essentially using a skill point for 01 new item that basically does nothing.

these are all combat-oriented. klei knocked it out of the park on the support-utility side of the tree, so much so that i have no complaints and understand that walter is not a combat character. never has been, never should be

Overall, pretty happy about Walter's skilltree, but as _mylilsunshine_ pointed out all of what i had problems with ill add one more.

Stinger Rounds are just too weak compared to Moonglass Rounds.

The Lunar Grotto in the caves makes mass producing moonglass just way better even with the need to prototype on the Lunar Island. Which all of Walters kit makes easier.

Theres almost no danger in there either so its just mine as much as you can and be set forever.

Stingers on the other hand do way less damage with the same much weaker effect. Walter already has a weakness to bees, and you have to kill so many to make even a fraction of the moonglass variant.

If Stinger had a Poison DoT, or something maybe itd feel better, and help seperate them.

Moonglass even hits a greater DMG threshold alowing you to 3 shots groups of Spiders, Bees, and 1 shot groups of Birds, Rabbit. Which i admit is niche, and is a non issue, but stingers or the other ammo types cannot do. Plus add one more shot and Splumonkeys Stampedes fall as well.

Exceeded my expectation in several ways.

What I love most about his skill tree is that it has something for every type of player, whether youre into combat or support or just nomad playstyle, theres always sth in his tree that suits your fancy.

I wont say I'm 100% satisfied w the tree though - For example, the lack of synergy between bs helm and lunar rounds, and the fact that the older rounds like Gold rounds are almost totally outclassed now because they are just dmg dealers and have no special effects. In fact i feel like its an issue w a lot of his rounds, but i can also see it being part of the charm in multiplayer where resources are less abundant and you have to make do with what you have.

i love that klei actually listened to a shockscrap suggestion, the community wanted a shock-like stagger effect, it's just that they implemented it so dookie-ly, and shockscrap/honey round is still not worth a skill point.

i feel like klei has a problem with combat balancing, but support/utility? they nail that down period

maybe we should take the gloves off and give everyone wolfgang+maxwell+wurt+wigfrid+wanda+wendy level combat

i imagine that some of it is their effort to keep in the general ballpark of a "survival" game, a lot of the choices that dont work for fighting seem to be more of a transliteration issue than anything else, it often seems like they are trying to make the effort but failing to make it feel smooth and natural for people who expect that sort of play

of course what do i know x''D i do almost all of my real fighting in hamlet of all places!
