Mysterious box
Personally the only thing that annoys me when it comes to playing Wurt is not being able to bring merms between shards though the merm call button kind of eased this by making recruitment a lot faster but I'd still love if it just let you move them between shards like Wormwood's. Also thats the plant from plants vs zombies. That’s a fair point. I’ve redesigned its appearance so it doesn’t look like it was directly taken from Plants vs. Zombies. Now, it only shows its vulnerability when it casts spells. The idea is to adjust the penalty for having too many minions, which can be adjusted in the game’s initial world-setting. You’re definitely not crazy. The fact by itself that you can get the dreaded mudslinger pre rift is crazy, but the fact that the shadow merm skill is completely free and basically doubles the amount of merms, on TOP of the dreaded mudslinger increasing merm dps by crazy amounts is absurd. I think the lunar merms look cooler, but their effect is really inconsistent and a lot of the time not that helpful on top of requiring moon glass, and the lunar mudslinger (forgot name) is definitely good against planar enemies but it’s just so late and not really enough either. I swear Shadow affinities have really been dominating for a lot of characters because of nightmare werepig alone breaking a lot of shadow rift progression Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164475-what-can-you-do-with-wurt/page/2/#findComment-1803066 Share on other sites

This combined with their armor & shadow merm's being basically an extra life, means that merms genuinely can live for far longer than I usually experienced, even in high AOE scenarios like zombie bearger (what a hard boss, lol, feels like every character has to climb a mountain to get that one in particular) where in previous tests, they would genuinely die before the boss had meaningfully been injured - I guess I should have seen this one coming, but merm guard leave-when-injured skill seems to be an active detriment to the point of being a single-handed nail in the coffin of the character's usability. The merms just don't do anything basically with this These things definitely help a lot, and I'm coming to learn maybe I just... don't... like, wurt? anymore? Maybe i'm just past the point in my life where I find this character to enrich my experience. Which is weird! because I'm saying this from the perspective of someone who, I guess, begrudgingly, you could describe to megabase. I am someone who plays for hundreds and thousands of days, and my saves with her involved, intentionally or not, doing very similar things to what is described in this thread. The difference is it just doesn't really feel like I saved any time for lack of a better metric playing wurt than I did playing anyone else. When I think back to the experiences i've had most recently, hiring pigmen to chop down a huge forest and just manually shovelling a little bit myself felt faster. Or I guess, more ambiguously just, better. Like I feel like I barely wasted any time doing that. When I think about my wurt gameplay it feels like a lot of the wurt things I did were a huge waste of time, and I don't really think in these terms often. It's probably just me. Yes the shadow merm side is just clearly better and is way too strong. But yes the only boss I struggled with on my wurt playthrough really was celestial champion because he is a natural counter to swarming units, but if you just luck out the merms can kill phase 3 in like a minute lol Some bosses just naturally counter some character playstyles and that is a good thing in a multiplayer game, like how crab king is hard when you try to defeat it with moose Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164475-what-can-you-do-with-wurt/page/2/#findComment-1803183 Share on other sites
mima_
i think world should have merm/follower limiter. just like how they limit big spook. there always lag time when one or more wurt join and load their "base" and walk around with dozen of followers all the time. this should applied to webber too Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164475-what-can-you-do-with-wurt/page/2/#findComment-1803221 Share on other sites
Masked Koopa
On 3/1/2025 at 1:55 AM, Steorra said: Just to say, for me personally Wurt got too many perks she should not have - tilling, chopping, etc. These things only erode other characters' identity. And yes I do have same opinion to Woby's similar perk. Wurt's identity is to be a character who focuses on development over initial accessibility. Woodie and Maxwell both have access to their chopping abilities immediately without any cost or caveat whilst Wurt has to deal with setup (whether that be gathering the materials to make houses or going out to find existing merms) as well as then keeping said Merms hired and alive. For chopping especially - while Pigs are definitely inferior to Merms, Pigs are still an entirely servicable option for every character, being even available to Wortox and Webber via the one man band. If anything Woodie has been underperforming for years on the chopping front. I think you could definitely argue that Wurt's setup might be too easy in some way, but her power level is a pretty integral facet to making the setup feel worthwhile over characters with more immediately available perks. I also don't think it is a healthy mindset to view perks as having to be exclusive when specialising at a task can bring the same level of fun without locking other characters out of something entirely. Especially because that means your preferred character's main gimmick is going to be compared to something everyone knows about and uses rather than the Wambo mechanic only Wambo players use with any frequency.
