Yifei_ Posted February 10, 2025 Share Posted February 10, 2025 In my previous post, I carefully compared the performance of Lunar Abigail and Normal Abigail in boss battles. Lunar Abigail has a noticeable issue: during boss fights, I can ignore Lunar Abigail, regardless of her position, and just focus on my own actions. Typical examples are the Celestial Champion III and the Ancient Fuel Weaver. In these two boss battles, you basically just need to use potions to Lunar Abigail (and not even that frequently), and then face these bosses as you would with Wilson. You don't need to worry about Lunar Abigail's position; she's not that easy to kill, and even if you wanted to, you couldn't manage it. This aligns with @Jason mentioned aloof playstyle and low maintenance, but this kind of gameplay is really boring. Using Normal Abigail against these two bosses has lower fault tolerance, but it's a lot more fun: Wendy and Abigail are truly cooperating, not just fighting independently. When facing the Celestial Champion III, you need to use Escape at the right moment to avoid damage, and when facing the Ancient Fuel Weaver, you need to finely adjust positioning so that Abigail takes less damage and her AoE can kill more Woven Shadows. Moreover, the loss of AoE by Lunar Abigail is quite a severe penalty: I lose the biggest feature and fun of playing Wendy, and the distinctive gameplay of Wendy compared to Wilson is further diminished. Therefore, I hope the designers will reconsider Lunar Abigail, abandon the previous design philosophy of aloof and low maintenance, and give control back to the player. I am not opposed to the design idea of "each has its strengths," but I hope that the "strengths" can be achieved through the player's own gameplay, rather than achieving a poor, indistinct "strength" without any sense of participation. For the improvement of Lunar Sisterhood, I think we can approach from the following two aspects: Addressing the shortcomings. Losing AoE is a severe penalty, but I hope players can compensate for this drawback through their actions. That is: revert the AoE damage of Lunar Abigail's Attack At. This can provide players with more operational space and more fun in certain boss battles (such as the Ancient Fuel Weaver). Enhancing the characteristics. Currently, Lunar Abigail's only characteristic is relatively high single-target damage. Here are some suggestions that can be considered (These suggestions are inspired by @CremeLover): Strengthen the "single-target" feature by swapping the effects of Lunar Potion and Shadow Potion. That is, increase Lunar Abigail's vulnerability effect, encouraging players to also participate in the battle, thereby improving overall single-target output. Add new mechanics to Lunar Abigail. Simply having higher single-target damage is not attractive. If I really wanted good single-target performance, why wouldn't I play other characters? A possible suggestion is to borrow the hypnotic mechanism from Lunar Affinity. For example: Lunar Abigail could have a unique operational option similar to Team Spirits, which when used, emits a hypnotic smoke similar to that of a Grazer. Additionally, other possible suggestions include adopting an attack mode similar to the Brightshade Staff, considering the parasitic mechanism of Lunar Affinity, and so on. This would encourage players to manage Gestalt Abby and gaining reward by the management. It is a rather poor decision to sacrifice "fun" in the name of so-called "balance," especially when Lunar Abigail herself is not balanced and is significantly weaker than Normal Abigail. I don't mind if the "Attack at" command for Lunar Abigail has some new functionality, but I hope the designers will give the control of the game back to the players. Because when Abigail backflips and when Abigail brakes, there is about 0.5 seconds of invincibility. They are not actually strong, but if you pull off this operation (performing an attack + dodge simultaneously through the command), you will get a very satisfying sense of achievement. But unfortunately, both have been removed, and now the attack command has become a deadwood for me. It can be used, but it's boring. The "Attack At" has a cooldown, requires manual selection by the player, has a limited range, and cannot easily control multiple enemies. The current "Attack At"… barely has any of the characteristics of a traditional "attack".
