As skill tree's strongest hater:tm:, yeah no it's absolutely peak.

I don't know how they did it. I am overjoyed that they did it. And I hope they can somehow do it again. There is not a speck out of place on this skill tree. Nothing feels like it was added out of obligation or to make it larger, nothing is a comedically large spike in power. And I can see myself wanting every perk the skill tree offers at one point or another. I am genuinely astounded by how well it came together.

From what I could tell, they're pretty much a 1-1 with monster jerky, just with the added benefit of never spoiling.

Worth noting is that you seem to get two per monster jerky, so you're effectively turning one monster meat into two monster meats that never spoil with this perk.

Also: 1 monster meat to treats inteads of 3 monster meat to get big woby, really really efficient!

They are better. Dog food restores 28 hunger for Woby, while monster jerky only restores 18.8, and you can make 2 pieces of dog food with one piece of jerky. Don't be misled by the data when you eat dog food yourself; it only restores 9.4 hunger for players.

Has anyone figured out what the weather resistance buffs on the pioneer hat are with the skill?
I've been testing it and I've had a hard time figuring out what its about.

I think it is 120 points of protection from Overheating and an increase from 20% to 35% rain protection.

Ah I had been trying to see if the rain protection was meaningful and it really felt like it wasn't. (Its a shame but I guess I can just hammer moles again. I always liked how the rain hat looked anyhow its not too big a deal.)

The overheating protections at least pretty decent.

I think the "worst" thing about this skill tree is that it's so good that it's distracting. I don't even want to play the game right now, I just want to rotate this tree around in my brain and think about all the different builds people could make. Sure, I guess there are still some things I would otherwise want that didn't make it in but I cannot possibly be bothered to care. I've given all the feedback I can give and anything else I would have to say in this forum would just gushing. I can't wait to play this in multiplayer, and that's saying something because I'm usually a very solo player but this makes me want to contribute to a team.

As someone who dislike skill trees with passion seeing Woby getting impact while maintaining a nice balance between the other skills is superb, and on top of it you can actually move points around instead of being locked in the same skillset, brother, klei cooked in this one. Good job really.

It does make me want more of these 7 skill grab bags of minor perks instead of linear paths to be a more recurring design trait.

Since, linear paths are usually strong when you get to a capstone, but in the end it reduced a skill tree from feeling like 15 points to like 3, since you are most big skills block off 5 points on normal trees.

So I really hope some legacy skill trees get some branchification/grab baggyness to them as a way of making spare points exciting. since, at the end of the day, thats a big part of what makes walter's tree incredible.

"Well I completed my two big skill lines. There isn't really much to do with my spare points."
Not a problem with walter because every point you have to spare once you are done building for power can go straight into eye watering QOL that makes life good.
