Should pure brilliance ever become available pre-rift in a similar manner to pure horror?

It's been bugging me for a while that the ability to get pure horror from the Nightmare Werepig causes a minor issue with a number of the skill trees, which makes the lunar route for several characters disproportionally weaker if the lunar rifts aren't enabled. For instance, Wurt has access to the dreaded mudslinger pre-rift but the the brilliant mudslinger is post-rift, which makes it really hard to justify ever using the lunar route if you haven't killed celestial champion. Similar case occurs with Winona, Wigfrid, and will be present in 2 of the upcoming skill trees as well. Since it seems late to stop pure horror from appearing pre-rift, it would seem fair to allow the lunar variant to also appear in some way, at a similar difficulty as obtaining pure horror pre-rift.

The difference becomes even stranger when you also consider Winona has a skill that directly produces pure horror as well.

I’m going to share my 2 cents worth here: DST is structured in a bizarrely weird way and it makes the game difficult for newer players to actually pick up & learn the game..

Why? Because DSTs most well known signature weapon… (besides a spear or Darksword) is the HamBat, A Weapon that if your not good enough at the game to kill Bee Queen for bundling wraps: Will decay and become less useful over time.

As someone who played DS and it’s DLC expansion packs: that game had several varieties of weapon to use that Were not on a constant decaying timer.. such as the Corking Bat, or even the Tool/Weapon: the Machete.

With DST: we really only have the Hambat.. how is any of this relevant to the question you ask?

Well… because I’ve observed my friends play this game for a long long lonnnnnggg time and I’ve noticed that: If you activate rift content on Day 1, they will eventually get their hands on a Brightshade Sword or even not even that! The Brightshade Hammer works just fine too… (it’s a weapon that’s stronger than a spear, serves multiple functions & most importantly: Isn’t constantly decaying.)

This has lead me to turning rifts to ON in all my sessions I play with my friends- Sure there’s harder so called “late game” challenges and boss variants, but they also have access to a wider range of weapons and armors to deal with that content.

Its like I’ve been trying to explain from the very beginning “Rift content only interacts with other rift content”

Funnily enough: Wilson can transmutate pure brilliance in his skill tree, however: Unless you have Rifts toggled ON or have reached the Rift contents being activated: Getting pure Brilliance before this point of the game is pretty pointless…?

Like: Without the crafting station to craft the gear and weapons that ask for it: What use is early game Pure Brilliance?

That said: I wish Klei would add a larger variety of weapons into this game, inbetween spear & (insert end game weapon here)

it just sounds to me like many paths in the skill trees are balanced for different stages in the game which is like correct and there should absolutely be differences like this, right?

Alter is cheapy, Charlie is leniency, you should follow her Supremacy

Personally, I think Winona's The Enlightened Strike is balanced on the assumption that it will be after the Rift, so I'm a little not agree making pure brilliance available before the Rift. I think it should buff on Wurt's Luna Affinity instead of about pure brilliance.

I think it kind of balances out a bit only because with pure horror you can get pre rifts but being lunar aligned and doing more damage to nightmare creatures is something that has utility throughout your playthrough even if you don't kill CC and get the husks needed to use with the Brilliance quickly.
