论坛真的支持使用中文吗?

You're on an English-speaking forum. That's why people expect that you will speak English. If I were to go on a Chinese-speaking forum, it would only be natural for people to expect me to speak Chinese (which I don't - that's why I'm here instead of there). It's not xenophobia, it's a language barrier, and it's one of the more difficult ones to overcome because of how different our languages are. That difficulty is not made any easier when people let themselves get overly angered by questionable design choices in a video game's beta and start insulting the developers every five minutes. Communication must be calm and reasonable to be productive.

I can speak English, and personally willing to use it in order to communicate with you. It's Klei who told Chinese players that they can use Chinese HERE. I' d like to obey the rules if it's explicitly informed to EVERYONE.Is it too hard for Klei to inform Chinese players that"Please mind that you should use English in the forum"?

they support chinese. u can post in bug report forum in chinese. u can post here in chinese.  they probably read the post just like any other post. (i believe there once full chinse thread was posted but with malicious content get locked. so they read it and notice the post doesnt it)

why do u believe ur post in chinese ignored by developers this hard? hmm?

Because this will cause misunderstandings, changing it to "recommends English" would not cause so much trouble. Why not unify the language requirements? I have never said that Chinese is being ignored or anything like that, where do you get your argument from?

因为这个会导致误解,改成“推荐英文”根本不会有这么多麻烦。为什么不统一语言要求?我从来没有说中文被忽略啥的,你哪来的论据?

from this thread content. also i believe i add like 2 big hit of paragraph space to make it that the replies to u was specially the upper one and the last sentence was for everyone in this thread that reads.

because good suggestion isnt based on how many like or replies you get from one post.
there basically no use to have 10000 like from forum users.
if u have 0 likes but they like the idea it might pass the filnal stage.
if u have 10000 likes but they didnt think it fits the image of the game they have, it probably wont make it or it will be tweaked to fit as they see fit.

What I want to say is that if using Chinese makes communication inefficient, why not tell Chinese players "Please use English to communicate on the Klei Forum"?

because Klei the one that support chinese. i didnt see anywhere that said forum user speak chinese anywhere.
i mean its just commonsense. this forum was not visited by one nationality. i bet there more non english speaker in this site more than the first english speaker.
if what u seek is discussion from users pls do be very considerate to use the language that can be understand globally.

once more im not even good english speaker.

What do you mean" i didnt see anywhere that said forum user speak chinese anywhere."? I don't follow.

This is a huge misunderstanding! If you go to a Chinese forum, people won't command you to use Chinese.Instead, people will actively ask where you're from and try to find cultural content that is relevant to where you live to build common ground.People will also ask you for basic vocabulary and idioms in your native language. If you live in a place that is similar to China or your native language is similar to Chinese in some places, then you will receive a lot of attention. Then people will try to learn to communicate with you privately in your native language. So,if you go to a Chinese forum, people won't hate you because you don't use Chinese, and they won't force you to use Chinese.

i mean what Klei said: they support chinese, and as in this the post joew previous post " That rule is mainly about the expectation of the forum community and our ability to support and respond to players"

the support is about THEM trying understanding any post that will be posted USING CHINESE.

so the support is between chinese speaker and Klei

forum users was expected, while i said its commonsense, as a site that used globaly to be in english.
as i said before if your Goal is to be noticed by Klei only so please do just post in chinese.
but what u want is open discussion with forum users use English.
its not that hard to understand.

应该是指,科雷只是「支持」中文,但并没有看到说科雷要求论坛用户必须在所有地方必须使用中文。

正如他所说的,他自己的英文也不是很好。但比起使用中文或是自己的母语,还是用英语更好沟通一些。

I think that's the problem, players can't contact Klei via DM, and all posts on the forum are faced to other players at the same time, which makes English the only language available, and if you use Chinese, you're going to cause displeasure from others. They will ask you to use English. So the reality is contrary to Klei's statement

也没有人强迫论坛用户使用中文啊,现在的情况是用中文发帖会有人过来叫你用英语

其他用户的意思是科雷最多表示开发团队会试图理解中文,但其他English-speaker只接受英文。

Let us know that it is recommended to speak English then,we will obey the tradition.

I have no idea how people translate but something that can be helpful is using this feature: Right Click somewhere to the left or right of the screen. Select "Translate this page". It will open a new tab and translate text on screen using Google Translate.

It is far from perfect but it should hopefully assist English Speakers in some capacity. Maybe it works too for Chinese Speakers, but I have no idea the software the folks have access to. I presume the same but could always be wrong.

(I am using Firefox on Linux, but I know this feature exists on Google Chrome)

Hi my fellow Linux and Firefox user.

I also highly recommend DeepL's firefox extension, you can select some text and translate them, it's so good.

I usually use large language models (such as Kimi) as translation tools when writing posts. One advantage of using large language models for translation is that I can tell them in advance the official Chinese-English correspondences of various terms in DST, and if I have specific needs (such as a certain tone), I can write them in the prompt. For me, the experience of using large language models is much better than that of traditional machine translation software.

When reading posts, I choose to read English directly without translation, and ask the large language model what an unfamiliar word/slang/abbreviation is when I encounter one. The poor machine-translated Chinese from the web translator (I use Edge) is more uncomfortable for me to read than English...

i never said that i am an expert in chiniese or anything like that, thats why i said that people sould use english if they want to talk to me...how is this so hard to understand? why are you argoing to me about other peoples trying to speak to me in a language i cannot even understand? like...please understand, i cannot understand chiniese, the whole reason why i say this is because i cant understand what the people say towards me and me only wanting to understand what these people are telling me, there is no insults, there is nothing of that sort, only not being able to understand words people say TO ME, even after i say they sould use english TO ME because i CANT understant there language and english just so happens to be the worlds most used language, i dont use my own home language here even, english is not even my home language but i use it because it is just the worlds most used language

Lets think it another way round. Hypothesize that you are speaking to one hypothetical random chinese-speaking guy who knows nothing of english, english to this guy is like chinese to you, and hypothesize that he couldn't understand and typed "跟我说中文,不然我会认为你很傻", which means "use chinese if you try speakin to me, otherwise i will see you as ignorant", would you think that these hypothetical words contain no insults? Doesn't this hypothetical guy merely woulded you to use an language that he can understand?

Chinese isn't a worldwide language, English is.

Also the google page translator works wonders. I never had a problem understanding after translation. I don't know why this is a big deal tbh.

There have been like 2 times i tried to read twice to understand properly.

The United Nations have 6 different official languages, technically they should all be considered as worldwide languages.

Also if google page translator works so remarkable (I use edge so I dont know about it), then surely it can also be used to translate whatever language including both English and Chinese into whatever language people can understand. If people already are translating English into their first language, then why cant they translate Chinese?

That's what I'm saying.

You know that's not what I'm talking about. English is the most influencial language in modern day. Chinese is spoken by more people, but it's not spoken by more peoples.

Forgive me if im missing something, but hasn’t klei already said on multiple occasions in the forums that English is the recommended language since using other languages can result in off topic discussions and overall can be disruptive? Exactly what is happening here.

i feel like they’re being selectively ignored by a number of you and I don’t understand why, they never said that you can’t speak Chinese at all only that posting it with a translated version is advisable.

at this point it doesn’t really matter what they said on Billibilli because they’ve told us multiple times here how it is.

can we get back to skill trees already?
