Arbor Acorns not spaning

Having one pip farm for 200+ cycles and now a second one almost up and running I noticed that no acorns are spawning form the pips / trees.

I was about to make a big tree farm as in most of my play throughs but I don't get any acorns anymore. Bug or feature?

Do you have dupes harvest the branches? In that case, the branches spend very little time at 100% and that means the pips do not have time to find acorns in there. Same will happen if you have a lot of pips and only a few trees. They will eat the branches before they find seeds in there.

Nope, harvesting is disabled. Made dozens of arbor tree farms in my 3k hours in oni.

Acorns have a chance to spawn when branches are newly spawned or when they are harvested. After an acorn is spawned pips can then rummage in the tree to get it out. They won't be spawned if the branches are just allowed to exist continuously and be nibbled by the pips.

That is also my experience. You need to harvest the branches for pips to find acorn seeds.

thats the issue - acorns are generated when new branches spawn

Unfortunately, mods can cause arbitrary problems. Maybe check update status on all of them and see whether anybody has the same issue in the mod comments. 

Hmm. Just looked at my last tree farm a few months back. You guys are right, it needs harvesting. My apologies. The trick seems to be to harvest, but have not many pips in there or the branches never mature. I had 6 domesticated trees and one pip in a room and that nicely produced acorns. Probably need more than 6 with wild trees. Having 24 wild trees and one pip should reliably do it as well, less may or may not work.

the best way of farming acorns is having a tree with the branch spots constantly drowning. put a wild pip at the stem location and let it exist there.

each time a branch drowns and a new one spawns, there is a chance for it having an acorn, which the pip will then extract before the branch drowns and a new one grows.
