Cdn Walter-Woby main: crafting/kits & silly snack ideas

Some of the following is original ideas as a Canadian former camp counsellor and a forever Walter-Woby main, combined with a lot of other ppl's ideas. 
I've no intent to take credit from anyone, but I've lost track of which ideas were whose!
(Lore, magic, skilltree, & bugs/insect thoughts, will be in a follow-up post!)

CRAFTING 

PROJECTILES 
Add to Projectile Pro: Walter can craft all Darts with 1 Cut Reeds 

CRAFTABLE TRINKETS
-> Heat source required, to use 1 Marble mineral and 1 Moon Shard to craft Melty Marble Rounds 
-> Add the Sextant Trinket to DST, only craftable by Walter, using Walter's items from animated short Constant Companion: a Navigation Compass, a Drafting/Drawing Compass, and a Spyglass 

NO WOBY WHISTLE, PLZ 
> Walter doesn't need a whistle item, bc he already can use any grass as a whistle, given his Cut Grass quote: "Look, I can make a whistle with it! PHHWEEEE!" 
-> Where multiple whistle items would make clutter issues worse, and I'd love Walter to have multiple learnable whistles/calls to interact with Woby, as birds calls, as other critter calls, etc, 

ASCOT (Walter's red neck-kerchief) 
> Intent: Provides 3 badge slots, where the animated short shows 3 badges on Walter's shirt, two on the sleeves & one over the heart, but an Ascot seems simpler to implement to me 
-> Feature: Walter can wear the Ascot with any backpack or clothes (torso items), but can't wear it with an amulet or other neck slot items  
--> Consider: Give Walter an additional slot as a skill, to be able to wear both a torso item (backpack, clothing and armors) plus a separate neck item that isn't the Ascot, like amulets 

PINETREE PIONEER FIELD KIT, 4-part kit: 

1 - Slingshot Kit (already in the beta) 
 -> Have it also enable simple aesthetic changes, to customize the icon of different Slingshots 

2 - Badge Kit (NEW) 
 -> Use same mechanism/interface as the Slingshot Kit for a Badge Kit, to add up to 3 Badges to Walter's Hat and 3 Badges to the new Ascot item 
 -> Craft temporary and permanent merit badges, for self & Woby & other survivors (ex: pin a petal on a pal for a Garland-like sanity boost & a similar spoilage time, or try a waxed/moleskin/sealed version for a forever-friend feeling, until/unless they perish ofc) 

3 - First Aid Kit (NEW) 
 -> Storage for Healing Items and new Bandages (silk and papyrus, boosts sanity when applied by another player) 
 -> Kit in inventory enables fast crafting AND fast application of healing items 

4 - Navigation Kit (NEW) 
 -> Storage for Papyrus, Pencils, Maps, Sextant or its components 
 -> Kit with all 3 Sextant components (assembled or separate) enables Map creation without a Cartographer's Desk 
 -> Give the Kit to Woby, then point to a spot on the Map: she'll lead the way, whether she's big or small! 

 

SNACKS & SILLINESS 
 
KITSCHY IDOLS for Woby (Can she already eat them? I forgot to test!) 
Walter ought to be able to craft Woodie's idols, or have another edible idol for Woby & Walter, maybe a Hound or Varg idol? 

TRAIL MIX 
Make toasted seeds useable in the crockpot, each worth 0.5 birchnut, for all-year Trail Mix 

QUIRKY JERKY 
Woby & Walter share a snack in their animated short, so I'd love to see a weird or icky jerky added! (Questionable Jerky / Quirky Jerky / Querky / Icky Jerky / Sticky Jerky) 
Edible for Survivors and Critters (Woby ofc, but also vargling, etc) 
Maybe any Koalefant Trunk hung on a Drying Rack makes Icky/Sticky Jerky? Or a Crockpot recipe with mostly Jerky, Or maybe Jerky that's gotten too wet? 

SILLY SONGS
As an opposite-counterpart to Scary Stories increasing Sanity (and therefore increasing Lunacy) add Silly Songs as a way for Walter to decrease Lunacy and Sanity 

-> Walter eating Glommer Goop already causes him to sing, so have him also sing when using Glommer Goop in a firepit, where both methods cause nearby Sanity/Lunacy drain

-> Worms song, after eating or burning Hallowed Nights Jelly Worms and Tentacle Lollis, something like:
[slow tempo]
Nobody likes me..everybody hates me..
I'm gonna.. eat some.. WORMS!
[faster tempo]
I'm gonna eat some,
Big ones, small ones,
Icky ones, long ones,
I'm gonna eat some worms, SO THERE!

-> Canada song, while using Navigation items & after using a Map as firepit fuel, smthng like:
Ca-na-da, Ca-na-da, 
is the best, is the best! 
I went [o'er to Alberta / east to Nova Scotia / far north in Canada / to a hockey game], 
To see what I could see, 
And all I saw was [an Albertan / a Nova Scotian] staring back at me!

I like the idea of calls for Woby instead of a whistle, as you say the boy is dealing with enough inventory clutter. Cheapening the cost of darts would also be nice for the ranged character. I'm not sure that the first-aid kit section fits with Walter's design so much (he already has the portable tent) but the other kits I really like. The idea of Walter having some way to decrease sanity with campfire songs is also interesting and funny.

Thanks for your thoughts! I really love the idea of Woby & Walter as a field medicine & firefighting team, running into chaos with a slingshot full of freeze rounds has saved us many bases. Teaching Woby how to use healing items, or Telltale Hearts even, and making it convenient for her to carry them - this is something i'd also love to see - Woby the paramedic here to save your day, and life!

just a jerky that can be eaten by woby/hounds that keeps woby big like mon meat and temporarily de-agros hounds(like hound whistle) would be swell<3

An idea just clicked - what if Woby loves dried fish? We know "smelly" things don't bother her bc "Extra Smelly Durian" is among the few foods she'll eat, so the jerky Walter shared in the Animated Short could have been dried fish!

.. or pemmican? ever since it was added to ONI, i've wondered if it might end up in DST too

it is because it has the monster tag BUT i do like the direction you are going all the same~ and drying fish would be a great way to extend out their fairly short shelf-life
