Webber needs to evolve! skill tree ideas.

This is my last skill tree ideas of the year and cause people like webber in general i wanted to share my thoughts here. From my experience Webber is weird to play cause all the lag and the fact spiders get obliterated by AoE attacks so 1 perk of this tree is gonna solve the problem of AoE attacks really fast in my opinion.

Funny evolution branch(our friends grow with us):

1.- Hide and seek: All spiders befriended by webber can now dig to hide under the ground when low health for some seconds and webber learns to craft the "game starter stick" that makes spiders to go under ground when webber uses it, they can stay underground for only 30 seconds at most but webber can make the spiders emerge before time. When spiders hide underground they are inmune to any damage and can't be targeted, but they can still be healed by webber or spider nurses.(This perk includes all spiders befriended by webber even spider queens). This perk can't be used on a boat, only exception is the strider which can go under water.

2.- Sticky pinata: All spider befriended by webber now have a chance to release a tiny AoE explosion of cobweb when killed, The area of the cobweb only last 20 seconds but all mobs inside it are gonna be slowered.

3.- Wellfeeded friends: Webber can feed spiders with 2 switcherdoodles of the same type to turned them into a bigger and stronger version of that spider. For example: feeding 2 warrior switcherdoodles to a warrior spider turned it into a goliath warrior spider. Goliath variants has 100 extra points of health and make 15 extra damage plus +5 planar defense.

4.- Final tag game: Webber develops a corrosive venomus gland and now he can permeate any mele weapon with this corrosive venom for 2 minuts. All weapons lost 25% more durability if they are covered in venom. All weapons impregnated with webber's venom now poison any enemy they hit. The poison effect weaken the enemy. Weakened enemies only do half the damage to any player or mob. Finally webber needs time to produce more venom so this ability has a cooldown of 3 minuts. And all enemies stay poisoned for 20 seconds after the last hit.

 

Creativity and adaptability branch(our friends can help us):

1.- Commensalism: All pacified spiders can now attend crops and the cobweb area of any spider egg add 25 points of moisure to any farm soil every 1.5 days.

2.-Symbiosis: All pacified spiders can now cover trees, berry bushes, sapplings, grass turf, or any plantable plant with web, this covered plants are less likely to catch fire during summer cause the sticky and wet cobwebs, and are inmune to brightshade gestalts, in return this  webbed plants makes the cobweb area to pacify spiders larger.

3.- Superior genetic: Webber gets 30 extra points protection to overheating, 30% water resistance and 5 planar defense.

4.- Parasitism: All spider queens near webber can now make a range attack that makes 10 damage but this attack is actually a tiny egg that infest some cretures like pigs, bunnymen, beefalo, cactcoons, tallbird, mctusk, hounds, merms, etc(medium size mobs not bosses included). Infested creatures takes 1 damage every second and after dying 3 tiny bitsy spiders emerge from the body, These baby spiders has 20 health only and after a full day they can grow into a normal, warrior or nurse spider.

 

Daddy short leggs branch(i love mommy):

1.- Calling mommy for help: Webber learns to craft the queen crown (2 monster lasagnas + 4 gold + 10 honey + 6 silk) to summon a spider queen from a tier 3 spider egg.

2.- Please mommy: Webber can now befriend spider queen with 2 monster lasagnas for 8 minuts, also he can ride them! and the loyal spider queen is neutral to other survivors. If webber gets hit while mounted the spider queen the damage is gonna be taken by both webber and spider queen and she is gonna buck off webber after that. You can not attack with mele while mounted, Riding the spider queen is just for movility, and yeah you can use her to move heavy items.

3.- Let me show you what I learned mommy: All spider queens befriended by webber now has a walking speed of 2 and if webber is riding them they can run at 7 speed.

4.- Spider prince: All spider queens now dont lose loyalty to webber unless he uses the shoo box, and all the spider queens loyal to webber can be decorated with hats and other stuff so they dont make other survivor lose sanity, additionally spider queens loyal to webber get 500 extra health points.

 

Itsy bitsy spider branch(i can help my friends!):

1.-Homless spider shelter: Webber can now craft a shelter for homless spiders, this shelter can take in 40 spiders of any type(no spider queen included), its gonna be similar to any spider den, all spider are gonna go inside during daytime. This is not a spawner so the spiders are not gonna regen. And this is gonna permanent pacifier the spiders that are attached to the shelter(one attacked spider is still going to attack back but the other spiders are not gonna join the fight).

After the first skill you can choose to pick any of the next skills or pick them all.

2.- Deph dweller nest: Webber learns to craft a deph dweller nest to spawn these spiders on any place. Crafting recipe: 4 papyrus + 6 spider glands + 4 bunny puff + 12 silk). The nest can spawn a max of 5 spiders of that type, with a slightly faster spiders regen of the spider den.

2.- Cave spider nest: Webber learns to craft a cave spider nest to spawn these spiders. Craftting recipe: 4 papyrus + 8 spider glands + 6 cut stone + 12 silk). The nest can spawn a max of 5 spiders of that type with the normal spidiers regen of the spider den.

2.- Spitter spider nest: Webber learns to craft a spitter spider nest to spawn these spiders. Crafting recipe: 6 papyrus + 6 spider glands + 14 nitre + 12 silk). The nest can spawn a max of 4 spiders of that type with a slightly slower spiders regen of the spider den.

2.- Shattered spider nest: Webber learns to craft a shattered spider nest to spawn these spiders. Crafting recipe: 4 papyrus + 6 spider glands + 8 moonshards + 12 silk). The nest can spawn a max of 5 spiders of that type with the normal spiders regen of the spider den.

2.- Strider spider nest: Webber learns to craft a strider spider nest only on the ocean to spawn these spiders. Crafting recipe: 6 papyrus + 4 spider glands + 6 figs + 14 silk). The next can spawn a max of 6 spiders of that type with the normal spider regen of the spider den.

2.- Worker spider nest: Webber can now create a new nest of spiders that adapted to the constant in a different way. These spiders dont eat meat only fruits and veggies, they have the same stats as a warrior spider but they dont attacks as often, they prefer to run away and they make a damage of 5. These new spiders are good for collecting resourse for their home, they can mine rocks, tier 3 marble trees, chop tier 3 trees, they can pick twiggs from sapplings and grass from grass turf, but they can only pick stuff that are in range of their den and the den has a limit of stuff that can be stored inside. The den can spawn a max of 3 spider works and has the normal spiders regen of the normal spider den. The spider workers can be befriended by webber but they can only collect stuff and give them to webber in a normal spider speed so its better to just let them collect for their nest.

After you pick at least 3 skill to craft new nests you can now pick the last skill of this branch.

3.- Hive mind/simon says: Webber learns to craft a placable structure called "the mind of the swarm or simon says". Crafting recipe: 5 spiderhats + 2 spider dens + 1 spider of each type except queen + 4 frazzled wires + 1 restrained static.

The mind of the swarm acts like a caller for all spiders nearby(even spider queens), webber can interact with this structure to order all the spiders near it. The spiders near this structure are always loyal to webber no matter what, they can even be attacked and dont react back. Some of the order Webber can command are the next:

Stay still.(they dont move even if attacked by any player or mob)

Go underground indefinitely, this is the only way to make spiders stay underground forever if you want.

Attack each other.

Attack a target that webber choose.

Sleep.

This structure is mostly to always have spider queens or any spider you need ready for a fight.

Move to a specific place.

 

Shadow alignment. Shadowy very sticky friends: Webber can make a new type of spider egg and he can befriend new spiders: the horror black widows, they can spawn from the new spider eggs, webber needs to upgrade a tier 3 spider egg with 4 icker jars and 5 pure horrors, after that the new horror death den is gonna emerge from it. The new den can spawn a max of 3 black widows, they are alike spider queens but they dont spawns any spider and they dont let webber mount them, they can only follow webber and they dont walk they run and their speed is 6. They have extra planar protection and they make extra planar damage to all enemies, they can attack shadows too. But they respawn from the death dens after 6 days. They can launch a black cobweb to enemies to slow them down a lot, Also they can't be friends with webber if webber doesnt have the shadow alignment skill active. they are neutral to webber if not befriended, they can befriended with dreadstone.

Lunar alignment. Lunatic simon says: This perk allows webber to upgrade the structure of "the mind of the swarm" with pure brillance and more frazzled wires so now it be picked up and used in the inventory slot but the range of the mind control is gonna reduce. Plus all the spiders under mind control or simon says game are gonna have their stats buffed with planar defense and planar extra damage(pure brillance sparks are gonna show in the spiders affected, But the new control is gonna need to be recharged with pure brillance before the batteries runs out. And this effect is not gonna affect spider queens nor black deadly widows.

So I’m trying to come up with new alinement switcherdoodles/spiders 

and at least three non-alignment spiders/switcherdoodles with farm crops as the differentiating ingredients 

as well as coming up with ideas for items for the silk crafts and care craft skills

so, any ideas?(pictures not included.)

    •    Unbreakable friendship: Make decorated dens  not break when attacked and spiders in the  Bedazzled range only attack attackers and nurses spawn from tier 3 + decorated dens ground webs no longer reduce


(Befriend all spider types)
    •    Beneficial bite : teach spiders how to “chop/mine” with each having the efficiency of a pig by demonstrating it done normally so they make the connection between that and them breaking down stuff + they eat yucuse snot now when you’re stuck 
   


    •    Silk harvester: razors can be used to remove webbing from tiles dropping two

    •    Rapid Growth: Webber can upgrade dens with 4 silk instead of 5 silk
 
 


    •    Regeneration sensitization:increase stats from nurse spiders for Webber(15 hp)

    •    Nocturnally adept: partial night vision  (sense spiders walk around at night) only silhouettes  not enough to not be attacked by Charlie but enough to  see where your going, reduced sanity lose from dusk or night              60-80% during dawn and 40-60% during night.



    •    Deep den sleeper:Stats for sleeping in dens to 2 health and 3 health per second 

    •    No picky eater: Webber has the ability to eat pig skin, bunny puffs, or any non human edible meats that pigs and spiders eat for 50-60 hunger


 


    •    Den Relocation: Tier 1 dens can be picked up by Webber and relocated (affects Decorated Dens + can remove and relocate the stickers)(pulled from @JJ0264)

    •    Unnatural brood: You are now able to craft the itsy bitsy nest reusing the baby spiders from the forge and they fill up a Polar Bearger Bin like item called the itsy bitsy nest and they would act as distractions somewhat like the parasitic shading  but the victim wouldn’t be immune to damage they each could only be outside the itsy bitsy nest for a total of 8 minutes after that they return to the itsy bitsy nest and nap and they’ll need to charge back up before using them again so they hunger durability that can be refilled using meat, honey, or electric milk/monster milk similar to the eye mask, but you decide if,when,and how many you takeout at a time so you can have them out over the course of multiple days without needing to recharge them. If you’re smart about it, also depending on what beard skin you have on will determine what they look like  they would look like tiny versions of what spiders from a den that has a queen that looks like that beards respective Webber skin as well as the egg sack having the same color,you get 4 slots with 12-20 second cool down until you can spawn the next one and they would do 9 damage,have 7 hp, upon death one will respond every 90 seconds 
(You need this to craft other 3 crafts and after the first 4 uses you need to replace the den decorating set for five more uses each time you run out)
8 silk, 3 paper, and 1 spider egg, 1 den decorating set,24 health

homemade den: You can make a homemade den if you place a cookie in the homemade den it will turn 2 spiders into that type, every time the den has a spider added it lose 1% durability, you can find out how much durability there is by inspecting, and you can repair it using silk but maybe by 2-5%. it has 12 spiders with the inventory of a scaled chest but for spiders only it’ll take 90 seconds for each spider to respawn Each time a spider respawns it will cost 10% power, 1 nightmare fuel Provides 50% power
it will spawn that Webbing Wickerbottom spawns with Overcoming Arachnophobia around it
4 beard hair,12 silk, 12 bone shards to craft it(bones making 4 pillars, a layer of silk, making up the walls and the rest being used as cushioning and decorations because it’s Webbers dens so it’s got Flex that decorated den drip) you could also call the spiders out of the den by interacting with it
And it can be broken using a hammer

Silk spindle:@blacknight7890 came up with an idea I re named it and changed its look but other then that it’s all there’s Learn to craft a 'Silk spindle', [like a giant spindle with spider hair and  a finial on it (with white string when silk is on it)] a structure that can be placed near decorated spider dens. Spiders will spin webs onto it over time, can be harvested for silk." [passive silk farming]

    •    Sharing is caring: Webber can give players the shoebox and they could only use it for its calling off aggressive spider function


  


    •    Garden spider :farm like Webber does in the gorge and learn more from the gardeneer hat

    •    Spider Goatherder: learn to milk volt goats that won’t be disturbed by Webber anymore and calm charged volt goats by feeding them any number of Wobsters, bananas,meat,Burch nuts, pomegranates,eggs, Asparagus, pumpkin seeds (doing this while not charged will make them follow you for a short period time to allow for easier relocation)

    •    Salivary sacrifice: get three spider glands for 30 HP then you have to wait five days until you can do it again over which you will heal back the 30 health

    •    Silk stitch: You can now repair things with silk like Winona’s trusty tape

    •    acidophilic arachnid: when in acid rain Webber gets:

    •    Animalistic arachnid: Webber has the same all fours running ability as Wilbur and wonkey, when you fight bare handed you use your claws doing double the normal amount of damage

    •     In the spirit of friendship: spiders will attack whatever killed Webber along with Weber being able to command them to attack things by haunting them, also all befriended spiders will attack players when Webber isn’t online

I'm not sure the hide and seek skill would be too useful. You either have enough nurses to keep spiders at full health, or they die really quickly. Do the nurses hide too, or do they become the new targets?

Personally, I think nurses have a severe balance issue with the instant heal. It needs to be capped into a per second heal and spiders get tankier (using skills, so wild spiders are untouched) to compensate. Then there can be value in using hide to dodge AoEs.

There could also be a trapdoor spider trap, equivalent to a bee mine.

All spiders even spider queen can hide underground, only black widows can't. And i made it like this cause nurse spiders are incosistent healers and they can die easily too by AoE atacks. Nurses can still heal even while underground but with this perk you can even forget about nurses for a little and use the healing glop with your spiders underground. Healing glop is almost never used by any webber player but with this skill you can use it in a more consiste way, and you can forget about nurses for a while so your spider armies are not gonna need as much nurses and you can be more strategic.

And the ideas of making nomal spider chop trees and mine rocks like they were merms or pigs is weird too, remember that spiders are total animal(big insects) they are not that smart to use tool and their teeth dont look that strong to mine rocks. I think webber needs new ways to make new spiders with specific evolved bodies.

Maybe a skill to make spiders grow special cocoons with webs to hatch later into new spiders with a body that can break rocks?

They can break rock walls just fine
 

also, the nurse spider buff is a buff Webber, not the spiders which will allow for less nurse spiders needed, which means a decrease and lag and increase in compatibility with other players

Anyway, @NekoSoulx i’m thinking of making a spider type that has durians in the switcher  doodle craft any ideas

I have an idea for Webber's skill tree: impose a certain limit on the number of spiders. For example, within a certain range of numbers, the individual combat ability, survival ability, and hiring cost of spiders would be significantly increased. The main issue is that too many spiders cause my server to lag a lot:(.

Tbh, its better to rework some codes for erasing the unreasonable latency of spider/bees rather than limit their amounts...

It's lovely to see ideas of Webber skill tree, but I personally have sad attitude to him ... It seems all swarm followers characters would be broken in the end, whether they are completely worthless or completely overpower.

wurt go her merms buffed with more damage resistance, more damage, 2nd life, etc. so why can't webbers spiders get the same treatment? he should be able to fight alongside a spider queen which may buffs her spider or webbers spiders if she's in the vicinity similarly to how the merm king buffs all merms on a world shard.

Sounds like a cheap way to "fix" webber lag issues. i think klei is good enough to fix the lag spiders cause without limiting the number of spiders webber can have. Remember that webber is about quantity not about quality.

well, there is a reason why webber players are being looked down upon. their followers are just crap compared to other followers and amount doesn't matter at all considering that one bearger swipe attack will kill like 10 of them at once. same for deerclops and if they manage to kill it the loot is gone coz it's being eaten instantly which defeats the point in even using spiders at all.

then most of the time webber players don't even know how to play him. a established base will have pigman who'll beat him up on sight or insanity will get those players very quickly. even if they know what they're doing it's more an annoyance to clean up 10 tier 3 dens on one screen.

webber is more seen like a noob trap. experienced players go for better followers like pigman, bunnyman, merms, shadow duelists, abigail or grumble bees (which btw also have a limit).

 

so considering all the short comings for spiders as followers how does it not make sense to buff them rather than making webber players befriend 100 spiders which accomplish nothing but slow the game to a crawl?

I never said spiders shouldnt be buffed, i just want webber to not have a limit of followers(grumble bees are a special follower cause they are summons from wicker, you can't befriend normal grumble bees) and if you want an idea about how a big swarm of bugs can kill a bigger mean like enraged DF the key is in making spiders replenish a lot faster, like sure she killed 100 of my spiders, no big deal, in seconds im gonna get back another 100 spiders, something like that could work in a character like webber, after all spiders are a plague, an infestation. If klei gives webber a way to make dead spiders replenish faster, like having more control over queens so i can use them like big containers of spider armies waiting in a corner or hiding underground so i can get a big army of spiders even if a giant destroy my first wave. Thats how big swarms of insect works, they dont won fights being stronger they won using their ability to overwhelm the enemy with such a big number of fighters that they look like their are infinite, and i think some queens hatching eggs can do the trick, thats my opinion at least.
