Graves might need a rework...

Recommended Posts

I've brought this in various topics so far, but I feel like needs it's own.

Currently, Wendy is able to create indestructible structure that can be used to trap anything you desire.
But she also can relocate existing ones. However, not all. Some of them don't have tombstone and yet they are considered "grave".

So, here's my idea to current grave system that isn't exactly related to Wendy, but may help those who like terraform the world.

1) Headstones now can be hammered, but grave spot is not removed. Wendy still able to shovel the Headstones WITH the grave, but now Headstone is destructible.
2) If you dig up the grave, now you can use the Pitchfork to completely remove said mound. Doing so will spawn few angry ghosts that will attack you, or will bring up the Skeleton (similarly to the fact that Wendy needs skeleton to place down the grave).

Or at very least, I'd like to be able to cover the undug grave. I'd been always a issue for me, cus I like building and decorating, Graves while  able to provide early gems or gears, kinda ruin the appeal for me since you cant reset them :(

I just wanna jump in and say quickly that graves no longer have a hitbox to block things in with. This was changed with Ancient Guardian's rework due to the nature of him being stuck and used for cheesing.

oh, well that changes things a bit.

Still, they doesn't seem to have a way to be completely destroyed other than being dug up by Wendy as of right now. And even then, mounds are still a thing.

My idea is: It would be great if Wendy could consume grass, branches and mourning glory to reset the tomb. It can not only produce practical use, but also for those who think that digging graves is a bad thing, they have a remedial opportunity, reset the grave, and let the ghost rest in peace.

I mean, in this way, the grave can be used to build a new factory. In addition to the anti-dog and mad pig factories, it can be used as a gem/trink factory! This is definitely a good qol change.

So there are at least three benefits of resetting the grave:

1. In the secular concept, people can make ghosts rest in peace by resetting the grave;

2. Practically, you can repeatedly obtain accessories/gems to build factories;

3. Aesthetically, because the dug grave cannot be restored, which is very ugly.

graves are still not removeable? that is kind of trolling kind of thing, imagine random wendys comming into servers just to place graves everywhere inside base to block everything just so you cant build anything in it anymore, they need to be able to hammer them, by the way i dont understand why tomb stones are not just a dekor craftable given i seen enought people wanting that, wendy can still have her easyer time with those but weird they got skins if you cant do something with it with most

If you make graves destructible then you need to enable Wendy to place graves anywhere instead of just on top of skeletons, because it'd be like "reverse griefing" if someone just hop in the server, destroy all the graves they can find and leave.

Still, aesthetic issues cannot be ignored.

Bookcase, Magician's Chest, Winona's machines, and Wurt's houses(especially Merm King)... Countering vandalism has been limited in the past, and will continue to be difficult.

Huh I was pretty sure other players could move Winona's catapults. Shame.

i think just being able to build graves anywhere would do the thing, i realy dont understand the skeleton needing part

I was looking forward to the skeleton part because I wanted to write a funny message each time my friends die in our server, but I guess putting the grave right next to the skeleton works too

I think headstones should be able to be added to the graves without headstones in addition to skeletons.

I do think that it is a problem that the graves are essentially indestructible objects that block placement of things, but I'm not sure what the best way to deal with that is. Part of the utility of the graves is that they aren't smashed by giants, so if they were hammerable they would likely lose that utility.

halfway? the graves can be "dug" by a smash even though the headstone remains untouched
