Poll of Wendy's Skill Tree from Baidu Tieba (Chinese version of Reddit)

I initiated a poll on Baidu Tieba (a Chinese version of Reddit), targeting the opinions of current players of Wendy's skill tree. The options in the poll are the same as those on the Klei forums, with five choices: Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Neutral, Unsatisfied, Very Unsatisfied. This post was made in the subforum Don't Starve Together. Please note that the term “Famine Online” in the image is a mistranslation for Don’t Starve Together. There are also some minor mistakes in image translation.

Statistical Results:

1. The vast majority of Tieba users (109 people, 69%) expressed being very dissatisfied, indicating a significant discontent with the skill tree.
2. The percentage of users who are satisfied or very satisfied is extremely low (6 people, 4%), with no one selecting “Satisfied,” further confirming that the skill tree design did not meet players' expectations.
3. The neutral response was also low (13 people, 8%), showing that most players have clear opinions on the skill tree, particularly negative feedback.
4. In summary, the consensus among Tieba users is that the Wendy skill tree has significant issues in its current version, and developers should pay attention to player feedback and make substantial improvements.

It serves as a content creation and communication hub where users can interact with like-minded individuals. “bar” is the subforum in Baidu Tieba.

    

3. What is the scale of the Don’t Starve Together bar?

   As of December 10, 2024, 18:15 Beijing Time, the Don’t Starve Together bar has 158k followers and 2.566 million posts. At that time, the number of online users was 3,552. Unfortunately, despite the large scale of the bar, Klei has not officially joined the Tieba. However, Bilibili (similar to YouTube) is another large Chinese player community, and Klei has an account there.

    

4. How to access Baidu Tieba to verify my post?

   I’m not sure how to access Baidu Tieba outside of China. You can also try searching for the Baidu Tieba app in your app store (though I cannot guarantee it will be accessible), and then enter the Don’t Starve Together bar and search for my post "Wendy Skill Tree Satisfaction Poll." Be aware that Baidu Tieba has a lot of ads, so be cautious while using it.

    

5. The Language Tools I Used:

   百度贴吧是中国的一个网络社区平台，类似于西方的Reddit，用户可以创建和加入兴趣讨论区（“吧”），讨论、分享并投票各种话题，从流行文化到小众兴趣都有。它是一个内容创作和交流的中心，用户可以与志同道合的人互动。
3. 饥荒联机吧的规模如何？
   截至北京时间2024.12.10 18:15，饥荒联机吧共有15.8万人关注，帖子数目达到了256.6万。在北京时间2024.12.10 18:15这个时候饥荒联机吧在线人数3552。很遗憾，即使饥荒联机吧的规模如此之大，Klei官方却没有入驻贴吧。不过bilibili（类似Youtube）也是一个很大的中国玩家社区，Klei官方在这里有账号。
4. 如何访问百度贴吧来验证我的发帖？
   我不清楚在中国之外的其他地区如何访问百度贴吧。你可以试一试点击我的链接https://tieba.baidu.com/p/9320355842?share=9105&fr=sharewise&see_lz=0&share_from=post&sfc=weixin&client_type=2&client_version=12.74.1.1&st=1733820319&is_video=false&unique=95C6172958D74DB93A37BED60FCCEF99&source=12_16_sharecard_a访问网页版的贴吧，但是网页版的贴吧似乎无法正常展示投票功能。也可以试一试在应用商店搜索APP百度贴吧（不确保能否访问），然后进入饥荒联机吧，搜索我的帖子“温蒂技能书满意度投票”。并且需要注意的是，百度贴吧的广告很多，使用时请小心。
5. 我使用的语言工具
   我用了AI工具（ChatGPT-4o、Kimi）和翻译软件（微软翻译）帮我翻译我的帖子内容和我的截屏，并且我自己也检查了一遍翻译结果。希望不会引起语言上的障碍。

They do care when they have been explaining detailed the design philosophy behind the skill tree in a dedicated post plus the ammount of changes and improvements they did.

Only a blind person by their bias can say something like that when they have been showing how much they care and they have developed one of the best skill trees in the game, way better than Walter's and wortox's and with more unnecessary powerups

Maybe there are room for improvement but denying what they have done is simply denying the truth

Beyond doubt, Klei has been working hard to make changes. However, with the holiday season approaching, I don't want them to forsake the quality of the game out of their love for the holidays. State the facts where facts need to be stated, and criticize where criticism is due.

The result of the vote is really regrettable, but I have to say the result is in line with my understanding.

I hope the designer will not misunderstand everyone's expectations. Players hope for a more interesting and unique skill tree to improve their quality of life, which is not the same as character strength.

Let's not mince words here and be completely straight up, no matter what Klei does, not everybody will be satisfied. It's not like Wendy is getting worse either, there was never an outcry for Wendy to be buffed before, so if this skilltree is really that "bad", don't use the insight, the same old Wendy is still playable and accessible, it's not like Wendy with her skilltree is stronger than base Wendy, heavens no.

I don’t understand what players were expecting from the wendy skill tree. Wendy was already a very powerful character, and the skill tree is a strictly net positive addition with no nerfs to her base toolkit. There’s some fun and creative perks, I don’t see what’s the problem here.

What do people want from the wendy skill tree? The results from this survey are interesting but not very helpful without understanding the reasoning behind this frustration.

you will understand when you have a family that you love and loves you in return; no game is worth abandoning your family for. this is a holiday for being with the people you love and care for. if the staff take 1-2 weeks off to go be with their families i will openly support them with love in my heart. do not be a 996 just because you are impatient for something that ultimately does not matter.

What if you received a terrible result three times, even this is something you've been looking forward to for a long time?

I admit that the 2nd version skill tree has less problems, but a lot yet. You can't believe they still thought Wendy is strong and nerf it in 3rd version.

We are tired in waiting a terrible skill tree every early Saturday morings. No player wants present situation, we can't wait to play it in official server unless it's not acceptable.
