The Sealed Portal in the Archives

Im just pretty curious about what the sealed portal in down in the archives is meant for. It was introduced almost 4 years ago as this mysterious object but since then it has received no attention and it feels like they forgot about it. 

I really really hope Klei has some plans with it in the near future because i think it has great potential! Its kind of the same as with the iridecent gem where they added it as a secret item but only gave it a use after several years

At this point it's just flavor to explain where the archive residents fled to.

If klei wasn't overwhelmed with character updates for the last 5 years then MAYBE they could have done something real with it.

Put a charged moonglass in the middle of the portal and summon a polar star to see what it does do. Pretty vague so I get why you didn't know the portal has a use.

The portal is actually where They will arrive from, but they got their bags held. So just a couple of content arcs left until we finally meet Them.

Its jn a place where (infamously) the scrolls where all the juicy lore bits are uninteractable decor in the background

I imagine the portal would bring the ultimate boss of From Beyond. The archieve itself is in a interesting position, on the one hand it's a place storing moon related knowlege, which connects it with the moon; on the other hand it's underground and is being attacked by a shadow creature army, which connects it with the shadow.

Maybe in the end of From Beyond, There will be two bosses summoned from the portal and would fight against each other, while the survivors have to defeat the both of them?

I can wish that It’s the DST equivalent to Maxwells Doorway (adventure mode) in Solo DS.

Unfortunately… Klei has yet to figure out how to make that work in Multiplayer. So it’s unlikely that it will EVER get this sort of use and if it ever has any function it’ll likely serve as yet another boring raid boss with OP loot that makes staying alive that much easier.

In the Meantime, I’m really enjoying Hardcore Mode on Lego Fortnite, it provides All the challenges I wanted DST to offer, I can play with 7 other friends AND I can hop on board the battle bus to fast travel between the different types of Lego islands.

I wish Klei could figure out this type of technology for DST (without it exploding peoples pc’s or whatever..)

As far as any other purpose the gateway may or may not have, we will never know cause it’s taken 5 years of leading up to nothing.
