Nuclear power banks will rot your bionics from the inside out

I advise against directly feeding your bionics nuclear power banks. They are radioactive, and bionics seem to be especially weak to radiation (only go to the bathroom very rarely) Maybe you could achieve the same effect merely by charging eco power banks with nuclear power banks?

What's even the point of a nuclear battery? It seems to have the same power output as metal battery, but not recyclable as an ecobattery. I was hoping it would be a super long lasting battery, maybe worth 10x metal batteries. So that would provide an interesting game mechanic of deciding whether its worth it to deal with the radiation and rarity of uranium.

Actually,  nuclear bateries are absolutely incredible. Unlike standar metal batteries, which cost 200 kg per battery, nuclear batteries only cost 5 kg, yet still produce 120 kj power banks. This means that they have a mass effeciency of 24 to 1, so it only takes a single kilogram to produce 24 kilojoules. This is ridiculously effecient, as the most effecient standard generator, the natural gas generator, has a mass energy effeciency of only a bit more than a third of that with the ratio being between 8 to 1 and 9 to 1. You could even just use nuclear power banks to refuel eco power banks if you don't want your dupes to deal with radiation, or use it to power a radbolt generator

Ah! THANK YOU! I never quite thought it that way. I'm convinced! :)

If you on that moonlet cluster map the radioactive ocean got uranium meteors so basically infinite batteries

Is there a way to prevent dupes from using the nuclear batteries?  Can you specify what power banks are allowed to be "consumed" or is the choice automatically made as soon as they go on break?

You can deselect it as a consumableimage.png.a131ee1791852efe61500ee9caadf9e4.png

Fantastic!  I only just started a beta colony last night and have not progressed to anything beyond metal power banks. Thank you for responding!
