An idea about "Shadow Allegiance" part of Wendy skill tree, which inspired by occultism & psychology

Recommended Posts

How about to add a concept like "shadow work" for Wendy skill tree for helping Wendy to deal with her shadow creature?

"shadow work" is a concept about how people to manage their subconscious, and it always focus on "how to deal with our inner demon".

We all know Wendy has completely disadvantage when against shadow creature - Abi cannot help her to fight her own illusion (or inner demon, or something else, whatever), she have to fight shadow creature herself with 0.75 damage amplifier.

This idea is more like for fun and cool (about Wendy's story).

We have survive so long in DST, we grown up as time goes by, so does Wendy.

I think the skill tree for Wendy could be a good chance to show how she grown these years.

She could be more weird, more supernatural, but also she could be more psychological maturity - she could be more skillful when handle her own shadow.

This skill could be relative with Wendy's AFW line, could be a rework idea about Shadow Allegiance skill line.

could elaborate on what you think some of the abilities or skills would be for this tree? I am curious

There's some shapeless idea about this,

Shadow work I

Description:

By comprehend the essence of shadow, Wendy could be more skillful to face shadow creatures, especially when face her own shadows.

Effect:

Wendy would have a bit higher damage amplifier (1.15x) buff when engage Wendy's own shadow creature.

Wendy would have generally damage amplifier (1.0x) buff when engage shadow creature from other sources.

Shadow work II

Description:

By stepping deep into the shadow, Wendy now could manage her shadow creature more peacefully.

Effect:

All terror beak generated from Wendy would be replaced by crawling horror.

When sanity is lower than 15%, shadow creature generate chance from Wendy would decrease. (Half as default)

I know my detailed ideas are immature. But they should be enough to become an example for the concept.

No it's fine. I think the idea of doing more damage to shadows/shadow aligned enemies would be interesting. They could add flair and maybe increase the damage a bit higher by making it to where you had to dismiss Abigail to activate the effect. This could also include a smokey visual effect.

Completely removing terror beaks would be a little too strong, but a reduction in spawn frequency or amount would be nice though it would not be something noticeable without also removing or impacting terror beaks.

maybe building off the first perk she could have it to where she got Abigail buffs such as the shadow allegiance murder damage, elixir buffs, planar damage reduction, and vex application at the cost of high sanity drain or a consuming a certain amount of mourning glory for a duration while and having Abigail put away.

  • I know it is uncharacteristic, but it would be an interesting play style and would simultaneously address her combat efficiency versus bosses and shadow creatures.

Yaay removing downsides!

This thread is focusing on character story but not balance. If you have good idea about balance you could give out your constructive criticism. Or you could start a thread to tell ppls what downsides Winona have.

Trolls are not welcome in my thread.

I feel like Abi fighting shadows would be quite competitive to Bernie, who is almost like an anti-abigail in a sense that there's a lack of control and most of the control comes within sanity management, depending on your skill picks. If anything, Abi turning into a gestalt should have the ability of fighting shadows since that's what the gestalts already do.

That way lunar abi is a switch off between AOE to a one hit wonder that can fight bosses (in its intended purpose) and shadows, but losing the AOE in favor of those abilities. This wouldn't step on bernie's feet as much i think.
