Why cant we have a shadow abigail?

Recommended Posts

If she can turn into a greater gestalt, then surely she can also turn into someting similar to a shadow creature!

here's some ideas:

1.you can turn abigail into shadow abigail in no moon night by giving it a dark petal(should be easy to get when abigail can haunt), give her a normal petal in full moon night to turn back

2.shadow abigail no longer produces light

3.there is a limit to how many damage shadow abigail can take in one attack, like maxwell's shadow fighters

4.when being attacked she would teleport away like all shadow creatures, when teleport she would deal an aoe damage that equal to her attack damage to her current location

5.now that abigail is a shadow creature, she can deal 10% more damage to lunar creatures and can attack and would be attacked by greater gestalts

6.shadow abigail always deals 40 damage, but attack rate is halved

6alter. shadow abigail deals 10 extra planar damage, but attack rate is halved

In this way we can solve the problem that abigail is easy to die while keeping her excellent ability to deal with multiple creatures!

I think the idea is that Gesalts don't seems to actually be mutated - they CAUSE mutations.

Shadow creatures on the other hand we know for sure are irreversible, leading to a cursed existance.

Abi becoming a gesalt in theory is her just manifesting as another form, like how some might be a ghost, a Will-o-Wisp, or a spirit. It doesn't actually affect her.

I don't think in Lore Abi becoming a shadow creature is that casual of a transformation.

What about Splumonkey?

They're in a weird position because it contradicts what we know about the ancients. The ruins, Atrium, Cyclum puzzles, etc, all show the process as being nightmarish. "The fuel has changed you old friend" and Yuck. Something grotesque is happening in this picture.(ancient mural). Also, while the monkeys are still temporary, the go from neutral to aggressive, implying a loss of rational thought, which presumably isn't something Wendy would want to happen to abigail.

Has likely been eating nightmare fuel living in the ruins and when the cycle starts it leaks out of the monkey which gives them a temporary makeover because the fuel is leaking out of their body. When the cycle ends, the fuel goes dormant again and the monkey returns to normal.

wHat I WanT iS  a JUStIFicATioN FOR sHAdOw ABigaiL DO'nt nEED a rEbUtTal yOu SMarTy pANtS >:(((((

Wendy doesn't seem to be hesitant about the shadows like about she gives Abigail to Cursed Vexation what created by Pure Horror and as shadows don't have a dangerous level of effect I think.

Fair enough lol, shadow abigail like a nightmare create would be cool to see in motion, even if I don't think It's in character.

Re the latter statement though, its all about temperance. the survivors use a lot of ancient magics infused with nightmare fuel, but completely transforming oneself is a step beyond that.

It's possible Abigail is already shadow-related. so she is already a shadow Abigail.

I know devs like to leave lore a mystery but it would really help to have a "would contradict lore" response to explain it, I was quite surprised we didn't get a Shadow form as well since the cool appearance changes are my favorite parts of skill trees.

There is already a Shadow Merm, but I don't want to think that Wurt is a girl who crosses the line morally. But honestly I can't deny that

"This development has me feeling uneasy" - Wickerbottom

"We've been starting to get a bit worried about Wurt" - Webber

"Just a shadow of their former Self" - Wilson

...

"Mermfolk Came Back!" - Wurt

I don't think Wurt quite comprehends the consequences of their actions tbh.

Another theory is that Charlie herself has a certain fondness for Abigail, and wouldn't take it upon herself to use her corrupting influence to change her. The gestalts by comparison have no such attachment and see her as another vessel to mutate, which is why she can be "lunarfied".

She's not it's very clear from her quotes and the other character's quotes that she doesn't understand the implications of what going on with her alignments she doesn't change merms into shadow merms herself the pact she has with Charlie does but she sees this as a good thing since "mermfolk came back" not understanding what that entails. On the lunar side of the spectrum she actively makes merms their lunar variant because in the eyes of Wurt and the other merms a mutated merm looks far more beautiful which explains the eternal loyalty on that side of things.

In the case of Wendy she does understand what it would mean to turn her sister into a shadow creature so it feels like she definitely wouldn't allow it and from what we've seen of Charlie in some shorts she probably wouldn't have even given that option.

I am not entirely sure of the morality of the characters in this game, but I am not sure if Wendy is above doing whatever it takes to bring her sister back. I'd like to imagine a world where infusing Abigail with shadow magic would turn her into a shadowy mirror of her living self including cosmetics (which of course would just be shadow Wendy)

this reminds me that abigail still doesn't seem able to attack shadow creatures in anyway, i know that it's very nitpicky but i just find it weird. Maybe she can as a gestalt (haven't tested that) but i'd expect her to do that as a ghost, since she's non corporeal and directly linked to wendy rather than a physical ally.
