About the Setting and Suggestions for Modifying the Soul Jar

You should probably just use all your souls before you swap. Not like you could even keep them beyond dying before. Jars are strictly a buff.

Used to need to bundle bees. Now that's optional.

I understand, but I believe it can be even better. I’m not denying that the current design is already a significant improvement; rather, I think it can be fine-tuned to achieve better balance and make it more suitable for the late game.

Simply put, this reflects my expectations for Wortox and my confidence in the level he can potentially reach. Adjustments can further solidify his position as a versatile and impactful character throughout the entirety of the game, aligning with the balance and depth I believe he deserves.

And what I’m suggesting are adjustments, not simply making Wortox stronger. Through careful tweaks, we can make him more balanced.

The goal is not to overpower the character but to refine his design so that he fits better into both early and late-game scenarios, ensuring his abilities remain relevant and fair across different stages of gameplay.

You don't even need bramble husks anymore. Get soul piercing and soul hop around to run the souls into spiders. You can get an AVALANCHE of souls chasing you, killing all spiders in its path.

The above is why I found this post so confusing.

Well the problem here is this requires you to play the game. Megabasers want to automate absolutely everything so they can hoard resources faster to build more automation to hoard even more things.

Megabasers are all naughty inclined by wortox's standard. :wilsoalmostangelic:

i rather had the soul jar be a simple placeable structure that can store 20 souls, no leaking or anything, you store souls inside and take them as you need them

Maybe you can suggest the devs add a separate buildable structure called the Soulstern

Or maybe similar to Portable Crockpot of Warly. You can fill it while holding, but to extract souls you'd have to deploy it.

Sure, I prefer killer bees for ease of running around and gathering them. Also not having to worry about healing the hives.

Is healing the hives something you have to do? I've been whacking the same hives for a while and they haven't been destroyed

Eventually yeah. It's not a huge deal if you're punching it or using a walking cane, though. Healing glands or salve work.

As mentioned at the beginning of the post, I believe that making appropriate adjustments and modifications to the Soul Jar can help Wortox adapt to all stages of gameplay. This would allow his usage duration and playstyle to reach the level of characters like Winona or Wanda. I believe Wortox has this potential.

Hey I figured out a soul farming trick for you:

1. Use docks to make a "fishing hole" near the Celestial Portal

2. Switch to Wickerbottom and read some fish books

3. Explode a ton of fish out onto land using one use of a strident trident

4. Switch to Wortox

5. Zap the fish with a Weather Pain

The perfect system for a 2000 day megabaser that needs souls NOW.

So you have lots of stuff like this already. Why not just use one of these then?

It seems that I didn’t fully understand the purpose of the link you sent me. What I actually want to tell you is that I am a long-term archive player, and I understand many of the mechanics and know what the optimal solutions and most cost-effective strategies are. The characters most commonly used in long-term archives are Winona and Wanda, because their long-distance teleportation is almost cost-free (as long as their equipment is set up). However, with the recent changes to Wortox, the Soul Jar now leaking souls makes it so that every time you switch to Wortox, you need to immediately go through the trouble of collecting souls, which is quite tedious. I believe that with some adjustments and balance changes, Wortox could reach the same level as Winona or Wanda, and become the third most commonly used character . I think it would be a shame if this potential is not fully explored, so I posted this to share my suggestions and to gather other ideas from the community.

Always could, you can heal just about anything in the game with health using health items!

You can just give them a poultice or so to prevent them from breaking. I do it with Bernie/Abi sometimes if I have some to spare.

see, this is why i am always coming back to dst. i didnt know this, this changes a LOT of things for me. i use bees to aggro enemies and help me break ranks when there are too many mobs to fight 1v1 so knowing hives are not a limited-use thing helps so much. you have no idea how many killer beehives i keep in a world just to delay the inevitable extinction

No, I understand that part.

You can also farm hundreds of souls, nearly instantly, whenever you switch to Wortox.

So what I don't get is why you made this topic at all. Again, you can farm hundreds of souls easily with Wickerbottom and a Strident Trident. Or if you seperated out the fishing holes a bit, with a cannon.

Let me explain more clearly. The main issue with using this character long-term is the need to constantly collect souls, which makes using the character quite tedious. It’s not that it’s difficult, but I can assure you that with the current setup, Wortox will never have the same amount of playtime as Winona or Wanda. The reason players choose Winona or Wanda is simple: their teleportation is almost cost-free. With this in mind, choosing Wortox becomes unnecessary. I believe Wortox has the potential to reach the same level of playtime and status as Winona or Wanda in the minds of players, and it would give me another viable option. He has this potential. You don’t need to explain any methods for collecting souls to me—I’ve discussed this character’s soul collection methods countless times with people in various groups and have watched many related videos. So, I’m very clear on what the optimal solution is.

Earlier you posted a video in which you were killing frozen bees one at a time.

You can get hundreds of souls from what I said, in a very, very short time. It's faster than killing frozen bees, I promise. I gaurantee it! I'm not sure who you were talking to if they suggested, out of all the methods available, killing frozen bees one at a time.

Is this a really elaborate joke? I'm laughing, if so. If you’re being sincere, I really don't know what to say.

Rest assured, what I am referring to is the most cost-effective approach. The video simply demonstrates something basic and relatively superficial.

or....make base next to a river so ocean fish spawns passivly, then place boat between the 2 land sides, make some trawlers kit next to it and tin fishin bin on boat, and boom, passive fish soul farm forever
