The panflute skills are just kind of bad?

Recommended Posts

The skills powerfulness is debatable, but even if wortox is related to music, he couldve gotten a unique weapon or item to signify that.

I don't see why someone would grab this skill over the ones that are actually unique to him.

A harp for nice (goodness)

A violin for naughty (signifies sorrow)

Most of the other skills are fine, but i feel as some could be buffed. (not gonna talk about it for now)

I think it’s a nice flair. It makes total sense Wortox having musical affinity him being a faun/satyr and they are always depicted playing some instrument like a flute (panflute), but then oh well, 3 skills just for it is kind of extreme and poorly fleshed out.

The Wortox flute skills are severely out of place, and just seem vastly inferior to wormwoods sleepshrooms.

IMO the flute skills should get completely reworked, and get some kind of new mechanic.  The sleep thing already belongs to wormwood

Make it a unique craft able item, that maybe entices pigs/merms to be your followers for a set duration. The inability to get followers is a massive weakness for Wortox end game, so the opportunity to get merms/pigs to help out with gathering etc would be S tier.

You can make one of the ingredients a later game item so Wortox weakness of not being to interact with followers is still a thing early on

I'd say that also adding a skill to make the flute attract butterfly's to Wortox for a duration would be another huge QoL (and help out with soul farming)

Wortox directly admits the pan flute is his (it’s shown in his verdant set, even!), so Wortox having skills befitting to it and being the only non-alignment skills that are “neutral” fit perfectly for him. The only problem is the skills are situational/underpowered (I would personally merge the increased sleep + special no aggro effect into one skill and make the “free” pan flute use permanent when you get it).

I think you just make a unique craft able flute for Wortox with unique mechanics.

The plan flute is too expensive/situational for 3 talents, and again wormwood has skills that are just vastly superior

I agree but Wormwood also really shouldn't have that effect. it is far too powerful and needs a nerf imo. It's obscene.

That ships sailed

It's in the game and fully established.

So adding a much much weaker niche inferior version of the skill to an extremely rare non renewable item is silly

As long as you have one to begin with. Not a given in multiplayer.

it's not that hard to craft a panflute, mandrakes can be found on the ground or klaus. the problem is that having to bring the panflute everywhere to use it, wortox already has an inventory tax coming from souls and soul jars, adding another just feel quite horrible.

they should give wortox an inventory slot only for panflute innately or through a skill imo

Klaus can only be fought in winter and isn't guaranteed to drop it. If someone else gets the mandrakes and wastes or logs out with them, your panflute skills may be useless for a year or more.

It's possible to solve the issue with an easily-crafted item that only functions with the skill's ability.

Technically renewable through Klaus and Winter's Feast.

Edit: Also Woby digging perk can yield it.

don't i know it! i never knew you could have too many panflutes until i started sleeping  for magnificent ornaments

I had a similar idea. Maybe make it use the pan flute recipe but substitute the mandrake with a carrot. It can only be played when you have the free flute play buff. Unlike pan flute you can’t accidentally damage it by misclicking.

i think i like this, panflute allready as is is not that easy to come by, so having it a bit easyer for the character that actualy has skills revolve around it makes sense
