Ugur01
I want to start building a megabase but I am not sure which option to choose I tried to do it in my current world before but I didn't have enough space because I generally play in branches most and small worlds. I also follow this post Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160699-i-have-a-questions-to-people-that-build-megabases/ Share on other sites
Lovens
Before you start one I would like to recommend a couple of mods I wish I used when searching for my current megabase world: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2848675289 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2848675952 They allow you to configure which biomes you get and their size, as well as different setpieces, protected resources etc. Besides that, I saw a trick someone did when generating their megabase world: set up resources like rocks/cacti/reeds/mushrooms to "more" so you can preserve more of them when building. I used that when generating my current world and ended up owning a neat cactus garden with about 60 cacti (the rest I mostly burnt when building). _mylilsunshine_
If you're new to building megabase, I would suggest starting small. Not about the world size, but the scale of your build. When building, the thing you have to keep wildfire in mind if you have it enabled, so the Oasis is the most common location for a megabase. But personally, I just plant 2-3, even 4, knobby trees and build everything I need there. I call it, functional-basing. 4 trees, 4 zones, 4 purposes, completely self-sustaining and doable since the canopy is about 4-5 tiles in diameter. Everything is compact and the wilderness is left untouched and untamed, just like how the Constant should feel. This14Real
I love donut shaped worlds but getting around can be quite annoying early game. I guess default everything would be the best possible combination and just choose whatever biome you like the most. World size will drastically increase the amount of walking between every biome but also build space for a megabase, I never noticed an increase in resources spawning. Smaller/default sized worlds had the same amount of resources but everything compact which is always great. Some tips that could be useful: Avoid forests if you don’t like evergreens and twiggy trees growing everywhere in the middle of your base, literally everywhere (Even if you change to a different natural turf which may look weird). Mosaic and graveyard if you don’t want your base getting hammered by meteor showers (unless you turn it off after you get the round boulder) and countless graves/ghosts in the way of your builds. Grasslands near ponds as dealing with frogs and moosegoose during spring around your base is tiresome. Great places to base are the biome you spawn (Near portal), oasis, deciduous, savanna and maybe the rockylands. These are places you can build and not worry about anything getting in your way with the only downside of maybe destroying a couple of non renewable things here and there. If you want to keep your world as aesthetically pleasing as possible avoid destroying said non renewable things like boulders, bee hives, catcoon dens, hound mounds, cactus, reeds, spiky trees and don’t dig up graves. If you need rocks and flint and don’t want to break boulders there will be a bunch scattered in the rockylands, earthquake in the caves are also a great source but in the late game break petrified trees or rock fruit instead. If you need gold trade meat with pig king and late game trade eels/frazzlewires. If you need honeycomb and don’t want to destroy beehives or killer beehives kill bee queen instead. If you need stuff from graves pick tumbleweeds instead. Here's a donut shaped world that I’m very fond of. If you choose branch never and loop always, you get a chance for lunar island to spawn in the middle of everything, pretty neat. Lovens
7 hours ago, gaymime said: i adore ring worlds<3 bonus if pearl or quay or lunar is inside of the ring~<3<3 I would recommend to NOT stick to a world with Moon Quay in the middle of the ring. In your average default world with Moon Quay located in one of the four corners of the ocean about 1/4 of the map falls under their raid radius, therefore making it super annoying to sail near your base. Put it in the middle and instead of a quarter circle of unsafe ocean you will get a full circle covering pretty much the entire map, with only the very outer edge of the ocean being safe for sailing. Meaning any time you go sailing - visiting Pearl, fighting CK, fighting Frostjaw, going to waterlogged, going to lunar, getting salt, fishing, fighting malbatross, grabbing ocean treasure, clearing marotter dens - you will risk getting attacked and your day being ruined. Even worse if you build ocean-related builds and farms in their raid radius. They absolutely destroy barnacle farms by ramming into sea stacks and attacking sea weeds, if you get one that has a treasure chest on their boat they will fire cannon and destroy your boats, docks and bridges. And in general they will ram into ocean trees and destroy them (not sure about fully grown ones but if you are still growing them, they'll be doomed), they ruin/uproot neatly planted kelp stalks, they ram into and destroy non-renewable structures (wobster dens, lunar wobster dens, marotter boats, sea stacks). I can't count how many rollbacks I've had in my current megabase just because monkeys destroyed something non-renewable just by showing up and rowing into something, before I could even be in range to interact with them! I underestimated how huge their raid radius was when choosing my megabase world, and thought it was convenient to have them close to my base but it's absoute nightmare. Here's a reference picture of how I estimate their raid radius but I actually had them show up even further that this circle since I took this screenshot. Full world map for a reference: Now scale that up to a full circle and put it in the middle of the map to visualise how huge their raid radius would be with Moon Quay in the center of a donut-shape world.
