ShadowDuelist
These are some really good ideas! They tackle most of the current problems with Wickerbottom. A few additional ideas: Spoiler I think the end is nigh should stun for a few seconds all mobs hit, not allowing them to move or do anything (except bosses). Also all mobs that are WET should get bonus damage (this includes bosses). This book doesn't work in caves, is very situational, kills friendly players, and overall it's pretty bad. Adding crowd control could help, maybe. Lunar affinity book could enchant summoned mobs around the caster, to deal a bit of lunar planar against the corresponding aligned enemies. This would allow you to further boost your grumble bees or tentacles. Lunar affinity book could turn her sanity into lunacy for a duration, and give her some sanity regen. Shadow Affinity book could send all the nightmare creatures around to attack Wicker's enemies. It would basically act like a super attack, they can maybe cap the max damage you can deal with this, and maybe add a cooldown. Most of these boosts shouldn't be obtainable by Maxwell. The poetry book could not have any durability and instead have a cooldown, but be readable at any point of the day. This could maybe keep her standing still reading while she recovers sanity -like a "sleep" mechanic but only for sanity- and limited by (reasonable) cooldowns. Basically make her a bit more like how mages work in other games, being slow and vulnerable in-between powerful spellcasting, but still viable. High sanity Wicker could have more powerful spellcasting, very low sanity usage on all magic, and maybe some extra resistance to some magic damage. Low sanity Wicker already summons a lot of nightmares when she uses spells. The portable library could maybe allow for a wheel UI (Like the codex, or Willow's embers) that let's you cast one of the 4 books inside directly from it. Casting this way could maybe reduce casting time by half. Only one of these portable things should be allowed for her at any given time, I think. loopuleasa
Book specialization on the tree is an interesting perspective, but I fear you might run out of slots and it will not be future proof with more books added by Klei or mods Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160458-wickerbottom-skilltree-idea/#findComment-1755325 Share on other sites
ZeRoboButler
Is it weird to want more literature adjacent stuff (not quite directly books) for wickerbottom? I do hope she has more witty or clever items similar to how she got that fire-starting quill, admittedly that wasn't an amazing item for her overall as the value of setting things ablaze from a distances is limited, but the basic idea is there. But... more books are cool too I suppose, but man now that I think about it... what else could you give wicker? With most of her gameplay being so book centric and the power those books have, what does a person give her? I suppose one could try to focus on the occult side of things for her, since she seemed like she had quite a collection back in the library. ooh, I would love a book that is like a partal reference to darkest dungeon, although that ends up sounding like a upgraded version of on tentacles lol. "The cult of the red hook" could be a funny name for it, with a red tentacle on the front. GimplyGoose
I do think that Wickerbottom could benefit from a spell wheel like how it works for Maxwell, Willow, or Winona. Maybe it could be limited to her sulf-published books? Currently when Wickerbottom's reads her books it just affects the area around her. If she had a way to target the effects of some of her books, it would be neat. Maybe some books have an alternate effect when targeted? Silviculture could grow some temporary tree roots out of the ground that behave like walls in a targeted area for example. I mean sounds kind of obvious now writing this, but it just made click now that u just say it XD. so Yeah the idea of the skilltree will be making her cast spells more often, have more spells, and more ways of recovering that "mana" pool. Now which books would I be choosing, not sure, but i think i'll go with the mining ore & meteorite thing at least, so it will be a way (or another way) of making stones, golds and other minerals renewable. 8 hours ago, ZeRoboButler said: Is it weird to want more literature adjacent stuff (not quite directly books) for wickerbottom?
