FrostPack Geothermal Pump should be a Story Trait

Geothermal Pump should be a Story Trait

It looks like one
It works like one
It rewards like one
It feels like one

Of course it should be available only for DLC owners, but still - it should be a Story Trait.
I would like to enable it when I don't start on pure Ceres map.
Or perhaps disable it on Ceres for another challenge...

It feels really bad to buy DLC with content I cannot access because I don't play pure DLC game. Ceres is fun start, but sometimes I'd rather start somewhere else, with Ceres fragments scattered outside starting biome. This shouldn't disable DLC story trait, it should still be available.

i personally think that allowing it every where could shift the balance of power generation for some planetoids/clusters .I appreciate that devs binded it to a specific biomes combination.

It is a 4 POI Story trait (so not that small at all) and is intended to favor the cold playthrough with some massive heat generation to compensate and help players with more difficult cold challanges related to power generation and liquid freezing in pipes and so on.

instead of seeing it enabled everywhere i'd like to see it nerfed since it's too easy to setup and the reward is too high IMO compared to the effort/resource required.

I'd personally like to have it as a POI, but actually to be able to turn it off and remove it from my Ceres runs. I don't like it, it's massive, all over the place, and trivializes power generation. I'd be happy to have a non-modded way to enable/disable it on my runs. As for shifting/breaking balance, it would become a choice to include it or not, so the responsibility of balancing a run would be transferred to the player, which is also fine by me.

Now, very unfortunately, even after the official release of the new QOL update and the announcement of the new DLC, Geothermal Pump has not become a Story Trait and will not be generated unless you start on a planet similar to Celes.
At this point, I think I have no choice but to accept Klei's specification that Geothermal Pump is a perk exclusive to Celes... At least my hopes have been dashed.

Fortunately, @gigamoi has made a mod that generates Celes asteroids containing Geothermal Pump, so I will use that... Thank you @gigamoi.

(By the way, could someone tell me how to mention a user?)

@SilverSpoon I dont know. It works for me. I just start typing '@' and usernames show up bellow. I'm on a desktop computer.

Also, you are welcome. ;)

If, like me, you like to have tight control over the map you play in, I suggest you learn how to tinker with the cluster/asteroid worldgen configuration files in the game's folder. They are not very complicated to retro-engineer.

Theoretically you could use .yaml edits to place the geothermal thingy as a conventional POI in whatever map you want. I have not tried this myself, or with other story traits, but it definitely could work

FYI, with the addition of the Ceres Core Asteroid (which contains a Geothermal Pump), you can add it to any new game of yours, thanks to the Cluster Generation Manager mod.

And yes, it also adds the "Full Steam Ahead" achievement.
