Deadly Brightshades need to stop tormenting Pearl

Recommended Posts

After initiating the Lunar Rifts Cycle, Deadly Brightshades start popping up at player planted gardens across the map. Deadly Brightshade only target certain plants, including berry bushes. Pearl's Island has 8 berry by this point in the game's progress creating a viable garden for Brightshade Gestalts, which ensures that Deadly Brightshade's will be waiting for you every time you wish to visit Pearl.

I don't tend to have many separate gardens consisting of viable targets, so if I do not clear the Deadly Brightshade's from my single viable garden then they choose the second most densely populated garden. In my case, that was Pearl's Island.

Sailing to Pearl's Island was an unfun change of pace when I just wanted to acquire the new endgame gear I had just unlocked.

Additionally, the Deadly Brightshades regularly spawning on Pearl's Island also disrupt any fishing trip. I kind of view fishing as relaxed way too get food, so having to deal with the annoyance of a Brightshade infestation is not fun.

Pearl is the NPC that player's talk to most, so I have grown quite fond of her. I tend to manicure her island quite a bit. I don't like the landscaping being messed up.

The little old lady should have a garden free of weeds, but the only way currently in game is the remove the berry bushes from her island. Therefore, I think it would be a good change to have Pearl's Island be free of Deadly Brightshade's. Their removal would make the unique parts of Pearl's Island continue to shine even into the late game.

I think best case scenario, she could have some sort of unique interaction, but that seems like asking a lot.

I think making her island and proximity simply unable to spawn brightshades (she "cut" them all down while you weren't there) and giving her a trade option for tea might be good? It's a silly feature for sure. If the tea has good properties, more people might be more incetivized to revisit her.

I also hope to have a special interaction between Deadly Brightshade and Crabby Hermit on the island, although not generating Deadly Brightshade on the island is a strange way. But think about it, if I were Crabby Hermit, when I saw those Deadly Brightshades and completely ignored them: some very powerful monsters suddenly appeared, and I was missing them in the middle to eat berries, without any special or even attention. It's also something even weirder

Wouldn't having more plants somewhere on the mainland, like in your base, prevent this? They always go for my grass and berry/gobbler farms in my worlds.

Yes but only when you would have a lot of them (depending on how they are planted from 100-ish to event thousands). And if you get away from a base for like 15 days some brightshades might wander to Pearl still.
